She opened the door and dropped her brand new phone. It shattered by her feet, and inwardly she cringed, knowing she needed that phone for work; but it didn't really matter. She had been expecting the morning paper and was met with a familiar face that shouldn't have been there, couldn't have been there. Warning bells rang in her head, drowning most of her thoughts, but she ignored them.

Hopper. It was Hopper. He was scarred and looked tired, but he was there. She tried to hold in her tears, but one fell from her eye. He reached out to brush the tear away, but she didn't feel it; she was too shocked."Joyce," he whispered her name the same way that he had after that Russian psychopath, Grigori had jumped him in the lab and she saved him.

Joyce was full on sobbing now. It had been so long without him, it felt like forever. She lunged forward to hug him and was met with the strong embrace of her wooden porch. Her hand got a splinter, and her chin was sore from hitting the ground so hard. She wanted to get up, but she just couldn't. She curled up and cried, her body wracked with sobs. Snot mixed with tears as they ran down her face, and it was like another one of those mental breakdowns she had been having quite often.

He was... gone. No, not gone, dead. Jim Hopper was dead. He wasn't coming back, not outside of her hallucinations.
