Relationship Chicken (pt 1)

A/N: As you can see from part one, alongside the title, this series is going to be a long one. So if I were you I would buckle up because from now are you are about to go on your final ride, one that is going to be the weekly chapters of this story. All connected until our finale and it all began with a bad date...

The first thing Loki heard was a disgruntled sigh, coming out of Ava's mouth, upon entering the living room. From what he could see, she was about to allow her body to fall onto the soft couch awaiting her. The couch that Loki was currently on, Ava had been inches from landing when Loki thought it was time to speak before he was crushed. "Darling as much as I would love to have you on top of me, I am afraid someone is already here." Loki watched as Ava barely caught herself, as she looked left then right trying to see who was there. Likely wondering if she was so tired that she just imagined a voice. With a shrug of her shoulders, she was about to fall again when Loki thought to speak once more. "Down here."

It was only when he said that did she choose to look down at Loki, laying on his back, looking right at her. "What are you doing here?"

A slow smile crossed his face, as he looked directly into her eyes. The eyes that he couldn't help but want to gaze at for hours, not that she would ever allow him. "Waiting for you of course." While Loki thought this was a perfectly acceptable comment, to Ava those were fighting words.

"Sure whatever you say." To others, this might seem like rejection, but Loki thought nothing of it thinking of it as a part of their playful banter, with his love who was still being stubborn. For while Loki was hopelessly in love with the mortal in front of him, Ava thought else. Her mindset was far more skeptical than Loki's, given her time on Earth, especially regarding dating. Already though Ava was far used to Loki's comments, ones she didn't take to heart. One she assumed came out of mischief rather than out of love, not because of hate towards Loki, but due to being hurt by so many men like Loki. Perhaps if she had taken the comments to heart, this story would've been a lot easier. Alas, Ava didn't know that at least not yet. As she allowed her arms to cross against her chest, already had a comment to spring to mind. "Now I will ask you again why are you here?"

"I should be asking you the same thing, considering you were about to sit on top of me." Loki's response was a quick one built off of time spent bickering with Ava. For he would take anything to hear her voice even if it was another bickering comment. Through to him all of this bickering was just a small taste of a prize that he knew would be awaiting him once her stubbornness wore off. That was if she would just let go for once, alas she was stubborn, something Loki couldn't say he didn't find very attractive. As he awaited her next response, his eyes were so full of love waiting for his love to speak her next words.

"Here I thought you already knew where I was."

"And how would I know that pray tell?"

"Don't you have, what's called," Ava tried to ask yet the words seemed to fail her, as Loki watched her snap her fingers to remind her. "That thing you have that allows you to foresee things."

"You mean godly foresight?"

"Yes."

"While some might possess it, I am afraid that doesn't fall under my particular area."

"And mind reading does?"

Loki allowed his shoulders to shrug, as he slowly brought himself up, tired of merely looking up at her. "I'm afraid I don't control what gifts I receive that is for the fates to decide."

"Here I thought you were the great Loki burdened with glorious purpose."

A sigh escaped Loki's lips, as he allowed the tips of his fingers to land on his forehead. Will she never let him forget that? A comment he didn't hesitate to make clear. "Must you always remind me of that?"
