"What the hell are you doing here?" Abhimanyu snarled, his patience had finally snapped and this girl was now crossing boundaries. "I have been patient and kind for long enough.... I will not tolerate any more" he spoke sternly.
Anushka looked at him with her fake solemn eyes, trying to act as if she was the victim in this charade.
"Abhi... come sit down... let's talk," she said faking tears.
Abhimanyu rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.
"You have a minute to leave before I call security... and this time I will put in a harassment report" he assured her.
"Abhi..." Anushka cried her fake crocodile tears, "Don't be like this... I came to apologise... it was always meant to be us..." she said putting her fingers over his arms.
He snatched his arm away straight away, feeling disgusted by her mere touch, and suffocated as the seconds passed.
"First of all.. it is Abhimanyu... secondly there was no us... I don't even want to have this conversation with you... this is beyond disrespectful to my wife, to my marriage... please leave immediately" he told her stepping away from her feeling uncomfortable and angry as the seconds passed.
"But I LOVE YOU... it's not fair... I love YOU... WE ARE MEANT TO BE TOGETHER" Anoushka wailed falling onto the floor dramatically, creating a scene.
Abhimanyu sighed, looking at the pathetic mess in front of him. He couldn't believe he had ever harboured a relationship with this person. Clenching his fists, he took a deep breath remembering what Akshara would do.
He bent down to her level, still maintaining a distance away from her.
"You know Anoushka... dil karta hain that I yell at you lots and then throw you out of here... I have never met someone as shameless and embarrassing as you" he chuckled, "but you know what stops me? My Akshara... who treats everyone with immense respect and immense care knowing we are all fighting our own demons. How you cheated on me was a horrible thing to do to someone but I am so glad you did because it led to what is the best thing that has ever happened to me... I always knew it was only a matter of time till we parted. I am not saying this so you become jealous or so you feel like I am running salt in your wounds... I am not. I want you to move on. Make peace with the past. With your ghosts. Move on. Fall in love with someone. Properly.... and learn to be happy" he told her strictly.
Anushka looked up, her tear-stained face as she inspected the deep look on his face.
He looked content.
At peace.
Happy.
In love.
Actual true love.
And the realisation dawned on her... there was no going back.
Ever.
Which meant there was only one thing she could do.
"She was your first love even then wasn't she?" Anoushka asked, "I remember... the way you watched her... it was always her wasn't it"
Abhimanyu sighed, letting his guard down for a second becoming lost in his thoughts of Akshara. It was true. It had only ever been her. She had been his first love ... and he'd never had the guts to tell her then so he'd hid it for years. And then over the years, he had dug his feelings for her so deeply that he had convinced himself it was platonic affection... how wrong he was.
"She's that good huh?" Anushka whispered.
"Even better" Abhimanyu whispered letting his guard down further.
And that's when it happened.
All so fast.
Quickly.
Anushka had taken the moment when his guard was momentarily down to close the distance between them, leaping on top of Abhimanyu so that she was laying on top of him.
And as fate would have it, that's when the door opened.
"Abhi you're ba-" Akshara stopped midway as she took in the scene in front of her.
She gasped as she stood till.
And so did time.
Completely still.
It happened so fast .... but so slowly.
"Akshara!" Abhimanyu yelled pushing Anushka off from him. Anushka smirked as she walked out of the office.
But it was too late.
Because the tears had already fallen down Akshara's crestfallen face.
Her breathing became more rapid as she closed her eyes and turned around, walking away.
