warning: no blood, but its kinda violent

The memory faded around Chongyun and instead of being pulled out like a leaf in a storm. He felt as if he was sinking, drowning into a new memory. He emerged once again in the small room that Zandik shared with his Brother. The man wasn't there, but Znadik and three other people were. Two boys and one girl, slowly closing in on the small boy.

The scene reminded Chongyun far too much of Saya surrounded in the forest, except Zandik didn't have any friends to save him.

One boy grabbed a backpack stuffed with books, clothes, and other random items. He turned it over and dumped it on the floor. They three students began to laugh.

"St-stop it," Zandik tried to grab the backpack back. "That- that's Big Brother's stuff. Don't ruin it!"

The three stopped and slowly turned to look at Zandik. One with brown hair, who appeared to be the leader, slammed the door closed.

"Running away, were ya?" The man leaned forward so he was at eye level with the boy. "Like you could ever get away from what you are, you little abomination."

He snapped his fingers and nodded at Zandik, his two lackeys began to close in. "Anyways," the man took a step back. "You won't be getting very far on those legs."

"Wha-" Zandik looked down at his feet, but was scooped up from under his arm by the other two. They pinned him to the wall and began to tear at his wires. The girl grabbed Zandik's pale, thin in her meaty hands and twisted it at an awful angle. There was a sickening snap and Zandik screamed in pure agony. The soft flesh colored graphing tore, revealing wires, metal, and circuits.

Chongyun jumped at them to try to get them off of the boy, but he fell right through them. This was a memory and he couldn't change the past.

"Oh, look," the girl exclaimed with a sadistic grin. "The little monster feels pain. Isn't that fun!"

She reached in and yanked at the metal pole, it shifted and Zandik cried out again. He frantically kicked out at them, but they were too strong and he was too small. The girl reached in and pulled out a tangle of wires. Znadik's leg fell limp.

Tears flowed freely from the boy's eye as a man with black hair began to tear apart his arm.

"Shut him up already," their leader sighed. "He'll cause people to come looking."

"Sure thing, Azriel," the black haired boy smiled. He pulled his arm back and punched Zandik right in the face. Zandik's head smashed into the wall and fell onto his chest.

A panel of his mask fell off and hit the floor with a clatter. Another piece sliced into the speaker and a few dangling wires sparked and flared. Zandik's eyes slid closed and a haunting song began to play quietly from his speaker.

                            "The i-i-i-itsy bitsy spi-der,

                                                                Climbed up the wa-a-a-ter spout,

Down cAme the rain and washed the spider out.

Up came the suUuN, and dri-i-ied up all the rain,

AaaaND the itsy bi-i–itsy spider climbed up the spout a-againN."

"Ugh," The brown haired one, Azriel, flinched back. "Make him- it, make it stop." He thrust out his hand and ripped the speaker from Zandik's mouth. He threw it to the floor as Zandik's voice faded away.

Zandik's eyes managed to stare right up at Azriel and pierce through him. Azriel raised a hand as if he could deflect the boy's gaze. He reared back and pushed Zandik harder against the wall. There was a quiet crack that seemed to echo through the room.

Azriel stumbled back as he looked at Zandik's shattered core. The small boy began to jerk and twist. His limp arm and leg flew about and his back arched. The two researchers holding Zandik to the wall jumped back.

Zandik's head reared up and, unable to do anything else, released a deafening screech of metal against metal. His body twitched one last time before he fell limp.

The boy looked like nothing more than a broken doll. His eyes had dimmed with lifelessness. His three attackers stumbled from the room, and Zandik was left alone in the dark.

A moment later, Chongyun was pulled from the memory and thrust back into the real world with a jolt. He woke to Three glowering down at him. Chongyun searched for a sign of Zandik all those years ago in him, but all that was left was a monster full of anger and pain.

Something that Zandik had whispered to him only weeks ago came back to him. "I don't know what I am, but I know I wasn't a monster. They made me that."
