For the second time today, I was jolted awake by the one and only Daniel Howell. This time, it was much more pleasant, considering we had just landed in sunny Los Angeles, California. We exited the plane, and headed to the baggage claim to get our huge suitcases. We hurled the bags into our arms, and headed outside to wait for the Uber we had called to take us to the hotel.

My first impression of the city was made while we were waiting for the Uber to arrive. It was hot in Los Angeles. Well duh, but it was a different kind of heat than the one I was used to. Heat back in England wasn't this much of a dry heat, and I was surprised that any plant on the surface of this inferno that they call California could survive more than a minute without being scorched all the way to their root.

We finally stepped into our Uber, thankfully being well air-conditioned, and Phil made small talk with our driver. He told us some cool places to eat, and Dad wrote down all of his recommendations.

We finally arrived at the hotel, literally right across the street from Disneyland. I could see the Matterhorn from the room, and I was practically pulling at Dad to get to the park as soon as possible.

We scanned our tickets at the front gate, and as soon as we stepped in the park, I was overcome by all of the magic. Before we came, I looked up every single fact about the parks and history and I was prepared to annoy Dad and Dan every opportunity that I had by educating them on the wonderful magic that is Disneyland. I started peppering them with facts before we were even in sight of the castle when we saw a barbershop quartet on the street.

"Dad oh my goodness!"

"What Delilah?"

"The Dapper Dans!"

"Who?"

"The barbershop quartet of Disneyland! Aren't they great?"

"Yeah actually, they are pretty good!" Dad said, laughing at his daughters nerdiness about all things Disney.

As soon as we turned the corner onto Main Street my breath was taken away. Sleeping Beauty's Castle was looming in the distance, seemingly straight off of the movie screens. Main Street smelled like sugar thanks to the handy devices pumping out delicious scents. I knew that this day was going to be one of the best of my life, only second to the day Dad adopted me.

We walked through the castle, me hand in hand with Dad and Dan, me staring at everything with child-like wonder as we entered Fantasyland. We ran to Peter Pan's Flight and stood in line. Dan got out their camera to film a Day In The Life of Dan and Phil video.

"Hello everyone! Today we are in Disneyland with special guest Delilah!"

"Dan I don't think I'm much of a special guest anymore."

"You are always special!" Dad chimed in, earning an 'awe' from everyone around.

"Delilah, why don't you wow us with a useful fact about something around us?" Dan asked.

"Alright, well in the Matterhorn, there is a half basketball court in the top because they don't use all of it for the roller coaster, and when Walt Disney asked the employees what they wanted up there, they said a basketball court!"

"The more you know!" Dan exclaimed.

We boarded the ride, little boats suspended from the ceiling on wires. I took in everything as we went through the story of one of my favorite movies. We got to a scene with tons of stars, which took all of our breath away.

After Peter Pan's Flight, we decided to stick to Fantasyland and try the Matterhorn. I hate roller coasters, but I am okay with this one, its not very tall or very fast.

The longer I stood in line, the more anxious I got for the rollercoaster. I didn't want to be in this line, I didn't want to go on this ride, but somehow my overwhelming drive to not seem scared won over.
