Chapter 12

Delilah's POV

I've called Phil "Dad" once, but after that I didn't. I want to, but I'm not sure how he feels. I walked down the hall and knocked on his bedroom door.

"Hello?" he said from the other side.

"Can I come in?" I asked.

"Of course!"

Phil was laying on his bed looking at cute pictures of animals on Tumblr. I quietly laid down beside him and stayed there for a few minutes, laughing at the animals. Then, slowly, I sat up.

"Hey Phil," I started.

"Yeah?"

"Remember that one time that I called you dad?"

"Yeah..."

"Are you okay with me calling you dad for always?"

"Of course," he said, happy tears welling in his eyes. He scooped me up into a big, warm hug.

"Thanks Dad," I said, smiling up at him.

Phils POV

I watched as Delilah stood up and walked out of my room into her own. YESS! I thought. It seems like such a trivial thing, but the fact that Delilah thinks of me as her father means so much to me. I immediately ran to Dans room.

"DAN!" I shouted. His head snapped up from his screen.

"What?! Is there an emergency?" he asked.

"Nope, something great just happened."

"What?"

"Delilah just asked if she could call me Dad."

"That's great Phil!" Dan exclaimed, hopping up and wrapping me in a hug. Dan knows about how much that this meant to me.

I went back into my room full of joy. Now more than ever, I knew that I had to keep that promise. I had to keep Delilah safe. From everything. Forever. I had to shield her from the horrible things of the world, but allow her to experience the world on her own. I had to be there for her through every up and down. I had to be there for her when she falls, but also when she rises. I again made another vow to myself. I needed to be as great as a parent as my parents were to me. I vowed to go to every choir concert, every musical, every play, every everything that she was involved in. I have to let her have every experience possible. I can't let her have the horrible time that she had in the orphanage.

OKAY SO THIS CHAPTER IS SHORT BUT DONT KILL ME PLEASE. I just finished finals and ugh so bad. Anyways I hoped you liked this chapter, and I will probably write a lot more over holiday.
