CHAPTER 1:ATHELIA

The weather is calm and sunny.The streets are busy.People are moving up and down and there is a lot of traffic.

Quite noisy if you ask me.Here l am  eating the finest piece of bread that has ever existed and drinking one of the finest champagne ontop of the eifel tower.

Just joking l'm just behind the counter selling coffee at starbucks.l look like l have runned over by a truck over and over again.The man infront of me is irritating me.He has been standing here for ten minutes now and hasn't placed a order yet.

"Look sir please order or leave the shop there are other people in the line your face is now irritating me."the old man with a bald head and a big potbelly stares at me and then says"Don't talk to me like that you stupid brat do you know who l am ofcourse you don't because you're of low class and a cheap lady how dare you say my face is irritating.Where is the manager l am going to get you fired stupid girl"by now people are looking at us and gossiping it to their acquintances.

This old many is crazy does he think l care about what he will do.l don't even like this job anyways.l look at him with a bored and tired expression.The manager comes out of his office and says"what is going on here.What is the problem here sir.You're creating a lot of ruckus in the shop sir."Ask this bitch you hired.Fire her right now or l will get this shop closed now and l will strip you penniless myself.

The manager looked scared,terrified even."Athelia follow me to my office"he then looked at the bald man and said"l'm sorry sir for what happened l will deal with her myself sir l promise you"the old man smiled."Okay then l am leaving"the bald man just left without buying and saying another thing.

I quietly moved to the manager's office.l entered then closed the door."Sir l am sorry for what happened but the man was standing there for ten minutes not saying or buying anything what was l supposed to do"l said to the manager while looking at the manager.l took a sit and   waited for his reply.

"Athelia l am sorry for what happened back there but l am sorry my hands are tired l can't help you.That man is powerful he can destroy both of our lives in a snap of a finger.With this said you're FIRED ATHELIA please go from here."

I stood up without saying another word.l went to the locker room and took my stuff,then changed into my clothes and left the coffee shop.l am now stranded no job,meaning unpaid bills.

l quickly walked to the apartment l live in.lts a rundown flat , very old but also cheap.l guess its still there for people like us who can't afford to pay high rent prices.l entered the flat and went to my apartment then unlocked my door and went into the apartment.l can't complain about the inside though.l painted it afresh and bought the items inside with my money.lts a cute and fluzzy space actually.

I drop my bag on the sofa and go to the bedroom and sleep.l had collected my mails over a week ago and l had not gone over them yet.l reached on top of my bedside table and took the letters and browsed over them.One letter caught my attention.lt was a gold envelope with a silk cloth tied nicely around it.l put the other letters down.l carefully took off the silky cloth off and opened the golden envelope.lt was written that

"Greetings to you Miss Delancy
We are glad to tell you that you have been accepted to Marigold academy.A academy for the prestigious.You're going to join the school at the sixteenth of  this month please be ready by then you will be picked up from your home.

The headmistress.

To say l am very happy is an understatement.l was overjoyed.Today is the thirteenth meaning l will be leaving in three days.Marigold high school is a very prestigious school.lt is the school for the wealthy.l mean like royal wealthy and l will be attending the school.

I switched off the lights and slept.With only good thoughts in mind its been long since l have felt this happy.Atleast l had one problem out of the way.l didn't have to worry about finding a job anymore since l would be having a place to stay for the next coming year l donot know about holidays but l will find a way either ways.

The next two days went by in a blur.l didnot do much just visiting the cafes and parks in my area.l also went shopping for school supplies and new clothes with the little money l had saved up.Even though at Marigold academy they wore uniforms during the week on weekends they are allowed to wear their clothes.

I had contacted the school once again to inquire about the school uniform and they had said l would receive my uniform upon arriving.Today was  my last day here.l am finally leaving tomorrow.It was now eight in the evening and still l had not packed anything.l am feeling lazy.l donot even have a friend or family to assist me for that matter.

I stood up and started packing my luggage.l took two suitcases from the wardrobe and started to put my clothes;toiletries;blankets ; my shoes and school stationary.When l finished l checked the time it was ten p.m.l was tired to cook dinner.l decided to order  pizza.

I took my phone and started watching how to get away with murder.Fifteen minutes into the series the pizza guy arrived.l ate the pizza then decided to call it a night since l had to wake up early tomorrow.It doesn't matter l was going to my dream school tomorrow. l wasnot the only selected student l heard there were five of us.This never happened,they only took one top lucky student every year from us commoners.The funny part is nobody knew the location of the school.Guess l was about to find out tomorrow.

Sometimes l wish l was as rich as the children from upper class society but l was unlucky as the rest of the not able to afford children.They were better than me because the had friends and family.Whilst me on the other had l had no family or knew who they were in the first place.The only thing l know and was told by the workers at the orphanage l once stayed in was that l was brought  by a man he neither told them who he was nor where he was coming from he simply said"her name is Athelia she will be safer here".Then he gave them a large sum of money and left.

I tried asking for a description but the said the man had came covering his face so they couldn't help me.So here l am l have been living alone in this apartment for two years now.l had to have a surname so l gave my self one Delancy.Athelia Delancy that is my name and l am eighteen years of age.l truly hope that one day l find my family.

I couldn't sleep so l scrolled through instagram and tiktok a little.l don't know when l slept but l was woken up by the sound of a knock on the door.
I slowly opened my eyes and started walking to the door.

I opened the door and was met by a middle aged tall man.With a serious face.

"Good morning Miss Delancy l'm here to pick you up for your new school please make your way to the car l will take your luggage".

I showed him the way to my room and he took my bags then he exited the he exited the apartment.

How l wish l woke up earlier and got ready.
