CHAPTER 12:ATHELIA

"So where am l sleeping"l ask him.
"Here"he pats the space near him

"No do not worry l will just sleep on the couch it looks comfy anyway"l tell him.

"Okay do what you think is okay for you".He goes into his walk in closet and comes out with a blanket.He gives me the blanket and l take one pillow from his bed.Then  l go to sleep on the couch.

I was correct the couch was very much comfortable.l open my phone and scroll through instagram.l look over to Rune's bed and l find him already sleeping.He must have been tired.

I switch off my phone and close my eyes unable to fall asleep.

Ever since l came to this school my life had completely changed.What l don't know is whether it had changed for the worst or for the best.Who would have thought that l would find my family here.

I struggled alone for sixteen years but now l have found them.l want to see the people who gave birth to me and ask them why they gave me up.

I will make sure to find them where ever they are and who even are these people who are faking to be our parents.

A lot is going on and l am not even able to understand.l don't know when l fell asleep,but l swear l felt cold hands lifting me up and the only thing l could do was let out a small groan of disapproval.

I wake up to the birds chirping outside and there is small rustling of the trees.I feel like l am sleeping on clouds.l open my eyes and find that l have been shifted to the bed.

I get up from the bed and make my way to the window.l open the curtains and seat at the window couch.The view from this window is amazing.Rune's backyard is so beautiful.The flowers are arranged in a array of colours.At the far end there are pine trees,a pool and a swing bench.

I get up from the couch and go to the bathroom and brush my teeth,wash my body with Rune's body shampoos.They smelt like the forest mixed with a scent of honey.

When l finish l put on my  clothes from yesterday.Then make my way downstairs.

This house is enormous but l am lucky that l ended up in the kitchen.
The more l get down the stairs the more noise l hear.

I take a corner and the sight in front of me is mind blowing.

Rune,his two sisters l met yesterday and two other boys were all covered in flour,eggs to sum it all up the kitchen was a mess.

They were all still quarelling.l guess the hadn't seen me.

I get in and clear my throat and all eyes turn to me.

One of Rune's sisters comes to me and says."lts a good thing you came Ath.What do you like best Waffles or pancakes".

"I like both"l say.

"Thats what l have been telling them that cooking waffles or pancakes is still the same.l mean who doesn't like pancakes or waffles"She says.

"I don't like pancakes"
"I don't like waffles".
They all say in unison.

One boy says to Rune."Yeah Rune cowards like you like pancakes"Rune take a cartoon of milk and pours it on the boy.

"Don't fight guys we have a visitor just go and bath all of you but lets first clean.Athelia you can go and sit at the lounge".l make my way to the lounge and start scrolling through the channels.l scroll till l stop where Spongebob is playing.They might have removed our childhood cartoons  but atleast spongebob is still there.

I start singing along.
"Who lives in a pineaple under the sea
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.
Whose yellow,fluffy and..........
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
........
......
....
.....Ready
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS
SPONGEBOOOB SQUAREPAAANTS".

I laugh at myself and continue watching the cartoon after ten minutes or so Rune comes to tell me that they have finished cleaning the kitchen and they are going to bath.

As soon as he leaves l go to the kitchen and start making breakfast.l make waffles,pancakes,bacon,eggs,sausages, toasted bread and mini cupcakes.l go out to the garden to get fresh bananas and strawberries from the trees.

I get back into the house and make a smoothie.l know how to cook obviously because l used to stay alone.l wash the dishes that l used and set up the table.After a few minutes they start making their way down.

"It smells amazing in here.Tell me which restuarent did you order from"Rune's cousin asks.
"I didn't order from anywhere l was the one who made the food,please dig in"l tell him.

"Oh my word where did Rune get you from,areyou his girl or you single".The other cousin asks.

"No l ain't his girl and l am single".l say.

"Well l will take my chance and by the way my name is Justin"he says and flashes me a charming smile.He is cute l won't lie.With his copper gray
locks and striking blue eyes.

"Well nice to meet you Justin"l say and take a sit opposite him.
Rune comes downstairs an sits besides me.
"Athelia did you make all this"He asks.Putting a stack of waffles on his plate.

"Yes l did and you didn't tell me you had stunning cousins like them"l say fanning my face.

"Athelia meet my cousins Justin and Jordan,they are fraternal twins and they are anything but stunning"He says.

"He's just jealous that he didn't get looks like mine"Jordan says.

Honestly all three of them were beautiful,but Rune was the most gorgeous.l disn't want to tell him because it would raise his ego.

We chatted through out the breakfast until it was time for us to leave and go back to school.

I learnt that Jordan and Justin learnt at another elite school in another state and they came here for the weekend.
And Rune's sisters were both in university doing medicine but they stayed with their parents.

I hugged all of them then left and followed Rune to his car.Today he had decided to use his car rather than the motorcycle.

I entered the car and we made our way to school.

In the car there was a comfortable silence.l took the auxcord and connected my phone then started playing my favourite hiphop song of all times.The box by roddy ricch.

We make it to school without speaking to each other.
"Don't forget about the ball l invited you to l will be waiting see you later Athelia".Rune says.

"I ain't coming with you Rune"l say still standing where he left me.

"But you will"he says then takes his leave.l am still standing here.My face red out of anger.Who does he think he is to order me around.l make my way to my room.

I open the door and make my way to the lounge.The apartment seems quiet.

I enter the lounge and l almost faint out of shock.There sits Natalie and Ethan kissing.

Well l thought that Ethan and Valerie had a thing going on.They didn't realise me until Valerie walks in and says."Natalie Oh my Gosh"she goes out of the apartment crying.

They both separate fast.They both look shocked.Ethan has regret written all over his face.

"Listen Athelia its not what you are thinking.Please try to understand".Ethan says.

I just look at him in disbelief.

Whilst Natalie has what seems like fake sympathy.Like l didn't see this coming.

I just shake my head and go after Valerie.The only thing l can think of is what the "F" just happened.
