"Are you coming?"

In the ten months leading up to the entrance exam for UA, Izuku trained his quirk, constantly making and erasing shadowy tendrils in his room, and with Shigaraki and Kurogiri in the bar. The trio got along well enough, though Izuku did think Shigaraki was a little childish. Izuku did hold Kurogiri in high regard, higher than even Shigaraki.

Apart from training his quirk, Izuku also trained his physical body. He would spar with Shigaraki, learning how to avoid lethal and nonlethal attacks alike. He wasn't perfect, but he was doing great for less than a year of learning.

He was also formally introduced to Dr. Kyudai Garaki, who he was surprised to find out was working with his father, considering he was the boy's physician. Dr. Garaki showed the boy the Nomu projects, and schooled him in things his school hadn't yet taught him.

"It is my personal theory that quirks are growing too strong for humans, and that eventually we will be crippled by them," Dr. Garaki explained, during one of Izuku's routine visits, "Take Tomura's for example. He isn't completely immune to his own decay. His body would react the same way as anyone else would, albeit slower."

Izuku took a moment to think of a response. He didn't much enjoy the doctor's attempts at philosophical conversation.

"We will adapt. We already have to use our quirks," Izuku looked the doctor in his eyes, "the only question is how long will it take, and will we still be able to live as we do now when that time comes?"

"Very well said, my boy. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought your ability was intelligence," D. Garaki complemented.

"Speaking of which.. Do you know what yours is, doctor?"

The short man gave a curt laugh, "Ironically enough, intelligence. It's nowhere near the super intelligence of Nezu, but it certainly helps with my day job," then he gestured to the room around them, high-end nomus growing in tanks of glowing blue liquid, wires lining the floor and walls, "and this, of course."

"When do you think father will give me my item? It was the deciding factor in me joining him here, instead of simply going to a normal school." Izuku pushed further.

"Your father works in very mysterious ways, my boy. But I know he trusts you, you simply have to prove your resolve, and your ability will be given to you on a silver platter."

Izuku looked at one of the nomus incubating in a tank. There was a clipboard in his hands, and he matched the label on the nomu's arm to the name the doctor had given it; Null

"And you truly believe this thing will be able to kill All Might someday, let alone be a match for him in his prime?"

"Why yes, I do. It's specifically designed to go up against him in his prime, and you know better than I how weak he truly is now- I doubt he'd last thirty minutes against Null. You wouldn't doubt my planning would you?"

"I don't doubt you, doctor, but beating All Might is a task not easily done. We wouldn't want to be overzealous."

'One more day until the entrance exam,' Izuku thought to himself as he dodged another of Shigaraki's attacks, grabbing his arm and using his own momentum against him, Izuku flung the man to the hardwood floor.

His muscles were sore, and he was sweating bullets, but still made an effort to help Shigaraki to his feet after their sparring match.

"That was a dirty move, short-stack," Shigaraki fake-lectured the boy, pointing at him and shaking his head dramatically.

Izuku rolled his eyes, "I'll need to fight dirty to get the upper hand on those UA kids, let alone the teachers. And I thought I told you to stop calling me that."
