The skeletal man stopped. His eyes widened slightly, and he had an anxious stance. Izuku watched as the man went from the number one hero in disguise to a small, worried little man who looked as if he couldn't defend himself.

"Woah, kid. Put the knife down, I thought you wanted to be a hero," All Might quickly said, raising his hands.

Izuku raised a questioning eyebrow, "well, seeing as I can't be a hero, it's a little odd that the number one hero is following me around like a f—king creep."

"Well, when you put it like that..." All Might mumbled slightly to himself.

Izuku was annoyed. The hero seemed as if he didn't even realize he was stalking a kid, let alone how f—ked he'd be if he were caught in civilian form doing that. His opinion of All Might was being lowered by the second.

'If only Kacchan could see his idol now. He'd be distraught.'

Izuku still had the knife pointed at All Might, and the blond man grabbed his hand softly and lowered the boy's outstretched arm. His hand was boney and cold. He opened his mouth to speak, and Izuku didn't want to pay attention.

"I saw you trying to save that boy. You were very heroic, putting your life on the line for him,"

Izuku started listening. He wanted to catch every moment of the hero's hypocrisy. He couldn't be a hero when he was the son of a villain, but he could be one when he risked his life for his tormentor?

"And your quirk is strong, I know that this knife has to have been made from it. I want to help you, I want to be your guide, a teacher... your mentor."

Izuku felt sick to his stomach. Was All Might really going to say what he thought he was?

"Will you be my successor, and let me guide you down the path of heroism?"

Izuku paused. All Might knew his father was a villain, and had said himself that he couldn't be a hero. Did he really think he'd say yes after that?

"Father, your injury... where did it come from? Mother keeps pictures of you in her room, and you didn't have any of them in the pictures."

The man was silent. Izuku knew the question was invasive, but he felt he needed to know.

"Did I ever tell you about All Might's quirk?"

"No, we've only known each other as we are now for a few days,"

"I created his quirk,"

This caught Izuku's attention. The number one hero's quirk, created by his nemesis. The irony was difficult to miss.

"I had a brother, many, many years ago. We thought he was quirkless, so I found a stockpiling quirk and gave it to him," All For One shifted to look at his son, who had the same green eyes as his brother, albeit duller.

"He wasn't quirkless, his quirk was like mine. The ability to pass on his quirk. When that and the stockpiling quirk mixed, One For All was created. This quirk has been passed down for generations."

"And I assume now All Might has it?" Izuku questioned, his arms held behind his back, and his eyes staring into where his father's own should have been.

"Yes. He does. This leads up to when I 'died' the year before you got your quirk," All For One put a hand on Izuku's arm.

"We fought, and I appeared to be winning, but in a matter of mere minutes, he had beaten me to the ground and I fainted. When I awoke, I couldn't see a thing. I'm incredibly lucky that I had, at some point or another, gotten a quirk that allowed me to see."

Izuku felt odd. The man had left him and his mother alone. He was a villain. He had kidnapped him. And yet, despite all of that, he was angry that All Might had done such a thing. Taken his father away from him.

"And your item? What does it do?" He questioned his father.

"I wouldn't know. I never found mine, and I doubt I ever will. My brother had a chess piece, a king's piece. It let him breathe fire. He never told me about it, but one day, we were playing a game of chess, I lost, and in my pettiness, I left him alone,"

His grip on Izuku's shoulder tightened, "when I came back, the chess board was gone, I never asked what happened to it. I suppose that was when he got it. A few years later, we were fighting—he was a hero, you see—and he started to breathe fire."

"That's when I learned. I was enraged he had kept it from me all those years, and as our fight continued I only grew more angry. I killed him that day, and I tore the piece from his cold, dead hands."

"So your brother betrayed you, and All Might, using his power, crippled you," Izuku questioned, though it was more so a statement, "I knew his annoying smile held something more. I was the only one around me who seemed to notice,"

"You were always smarter than your peers, never forget that, Izuku. Trust your judgment over that of anyone else's,"

"Yes, Father,"

————————————————————————

Izuku looked at the hero in front of him. The hero who crippled his father, and wounded him deeper than he thought he did. The man was no hero.

"No. No, I don't want your quirk," Izuku stared at All Might through his hair, head lowered.

"W-what? But, my boy, this could be a chance of a lifetime!" All Might questioned, his hand still clutching Izuku's arm.

Izuku ripped his arm out of All Might's grasp, anger seeping into his actions and voice, "if you said I could be a hero when all you knew was that my father was a villain, then what gives you the ego to assume I'd agree to your newfound acceptance the moment you see me trying to help someone?"

"No, I don't want your quirk. If I'm going to be a hero, I won't do it with your help. Go find a different successor, I'm sure that Katsuki would love the offer."

At this point, Izuku's emotions were out of hand, and larger shadowy wisps were climbing up his pant legs. They started to weave like vines in between cracks in the concrete. If he didn't leave or calm down soon, he'd end up hurting All Might or himself.

"Now, All Might, I'm afraid it's getting rather late, and I'm positive my mother is terribly frightened as to where I am, so if you'll excuse me, I'll have to be off," Izuku said, snarkily, forcing his body to move away from the hero.

He let the shadowy knife drop to the ground, and disappear as it hit the pavement. He prayed to never see the blue-eyed, blond-haired hypocrite again, except for on the news, where he could change to a different channel and avoid the man.
