Chapter 62- Witness For The Prosecution

Mom couldn't stay away from Riverdale for long and came back within a couple of days mainly to help with my letter to Yale, but right now she's dealing with Veronica's mom being arrested so I decided to go hang out with my brother after visiting dads grave
"Hey boys" I smile walking over to Archie and Monroe with some bags of food in my hand
"What are you doing here?"
"Well I thought you might all be a little hungry so I bought you all pops. And I also thought I'd come and help you paint the boxing club" Monroe takes one of the bags out of my hands
"Thanks Rory but you didn't have to"
"I know, but I wanted to. Plus I'm super bored, Toni Cheryl and I aren't really that close anymore, Betty is off with her brother, Jug is away, Veronica is dealing with her dad, obviously Sweet Peas out of the question and no one knows where Fangs is even though the farm have been caught" I finally take a breath
"You ok?" Monroe asks frowning
"Yes, no. I miss the Serpents, I miss my friends" I sadly say
"Things will get better Rory, just you wait and see" Archie says trying to be a pessimist
"One of you named Archie?" a man asks with a young boy
"Yeah that's me"
"This kid says you'll vouch for him"
"That's Toby, he hangs out here"
"Is there a problem?" I ask frowning
"Yeah. He was shoplifting in my convenience store"
"I was reading comic books"
"You were loitering and then you started to put this comic book in your jacket"
"I'll pay for whatever that comic book costs" I say pulling my purse out of my bag
"4.99. I don't want any of your delinquents stepping foot in my shop. It's
bad enough we have to walk by this halfway house"
"So what you'd rather kids get beaten up? forced into doing drug runs? Is that what your saying. At least my brother is trying to help these kids. Unlike some" I look the man up and down "Toby grab a brush" the young boy walks passed me. I cross my arms still looking at the old man "you gonna stand and stare because I think that's a worst crime than stealing a comic"
"Are you serious"
"Deadly. Oh and fun fact we're friends with the sheriffs son" the man doesn't say anything more and walks away.

After paining the side of the boxing gym for the afternoon, Monroe offers me a lift home, but we end up in pops having a milkshake
"That did not happen" Monroes eyes widen making me chuckle
"Oh yeah. We heard them from either side of us, I nearly threw up" I laugh talking about when we went to shadow lake. The door to pops opens with a ding and in walks a disheveled Sweet Pea. He looks right at us with a sad expression then walks to the counter
"Damn he looks rough" Monroe states
"Yeah"
"Maybe you should talk to him"
"Oh, I don't know. He broke up with me"
"Yeah and he looks thrilled over that decision, I think there's more to why you broke up"
"So do I, but I made it clear to him that I would always be by his side and help him through stuff"
"And have you?"
"When we're together yeah course, but maybe I did neglect or relationship a little, god I don't know" I groan putting my head in my hands
"I think you just need to talk. Both of you alone. No interruptions" I look up at Monroe and then see Sweet Pea walk passed our table "now might be your chance. Go" I quickly get up and run after Sweet Pea, but by the time I get outside he's on his motorbike and has just left pops. Sulking I walk back into pops and sit down opposite Monroe "keep trying" Monroe gives my shoulder a pat.

Archie wants to set up a big brothers big sisters program and asked me if the Vixens would be willing to help out. Of course I said yes knowing anyone in Riverdale would do anything for Archie, they all love him, like they all loved our dad. We're now stood in front of loads of people at the gym talking about the plans for the kids here

In fact, starting today, will be expanding our hours to 11 p.m and we'll be open on Sundays. So, to my neighbors, I say, Instead of working against us, why don't you come in and help out? Sponsor a baseball team. Donate your time. These kids need people to show them that they care. Which is why we're starting Big Brothers and Big Sisters program.The Riverdale High Bulldogs and Vixens have already volunteered, so why don't you? And if you still wanna shut us down, then go ahead and try. Our mom is a very good lawyer. Or you can try the cops. And I'll call my best friend's dad, the sheriff of Riverdale. Otherwise, my friendly advice to you is get out of my way"
