Chapter 69- Men Of Honor

Just a short one. I feel like all the chapters in the book are short as a lot of the stuff that's happening is at stonewall and of course there's like no Sweet Pea so I'm really having to make stuff up. Any way hope you enjoy

"So, there was an ambush near the city center, and they sent us in to extract any wounded" one of uncle Franks friends tells Archie and I over diner "I end up walking down a blind alley I get hit in both legs, and I go down. But he got me out of there" Ted looks at uncle Frank "It wasn't till we got back to the aid station, I saw that Frank, he'd been hit four times himself. hey, you got a Red Badge of Courage for saving my ass, right?"
"I got lucky, that's all"
"Well boys and girl, I appreciate the warm meal
and hospitality, but it's time I ship out"
"You can stay here if you want, Mr. Bishop. Our moms out of town there's plenty of room"
"As long as I'm not putting anyone out"
"No, you're not"
"Pea is actually going to stop the night, if everyone's cool with that?"
"Sure" Archie says. I leave the table and head to my room shutting it behind me. I grab my phone and phone Sweet Pea
"Hi beautiful" I blush at what he just called me
"Hey Errm uncle Franks friend is over and Archie has said he can stay. I'm just a little... uncomfortable. I know Archie's here but I don't really know uncle Frank all that well and now..."
"I'll be over in 5" I can hear him already getting his boots on
"Thank you" I put the phone down and get ready for bed. Just as he said 5 minutes later Pea is knocking on the door "I'll get it!" I yell and run down the stairs as fast as I can with the 2 dogs trailing behind me. I swing the door open and drag Pea inside and up the stairs "thank you so much for coming"
"It's fine. I asked Fangs to come with, but he's hanging out with Kevin, Cheryl and Toni"
"Wait what? Without us?" I frown "weird"

"Hey, where's the fire?"
"Sorry, I'm gonna be late for school"
"No we're fine" I say drinking my coffee
"You're fine because your going on Sweet Peas bike" Archie says almost out of breath "Ted, don't be a stranger. Hope to see you again soon. See you at school Rory, Sweet Pea" Archie rushes out the door
"We best think about heading out to" Pea says
"If you say so" I groan making everyone chuckle. I grab my bag and leave the house with Sweet Pea. We pass Archie on the way so when he doesn't arrive to school after first period I start to get worried, so I ring him
"Hey arch you ok? Did you get lost on the way to school?" I chuckle
"No erm ted was trying to kill Frank so I hit him over the head with a pan"
"What happened?" I shout down the phone "is he ok?"
"Yeah. Erm teds in custody. I'll be at school in a bit" Archie also tells me a little more about how uncle Frank has done some not so great things in the past
"Ok see you soon"
"Everything ok?" Pea ask as I end the call. I tell him what Archie just told me
"Jesus. It's a good job you rang me last night. God if he tried to hurt you I would have...."
"I know. But I'm fine. Archie is fine. Uncle Frank is fine" I take Peas hand in mine, but he just pulls me into a hug.

"All right. Thank you. Mr. Jones I appreciate it" Archie says before ending a phone call "feds picked up ted. He'll be tried for everything he did in Riverdale. He said they're looking for you too"
"Of course they are"
"Our moms the lawyer not us, but wouldn't it go better if you turned yourself in?" Archie asks "cut a deal maybe?" Uncle Frank sighs
"Alright. Alright I'll do it. I'll turn myself in tomorrow"
"I genuinely think this is the right thing to do, Uncle Frank"
"Yeah the longer you leave it. The worse it will be for you. If you tell the truth maybe they will go easier on you" I shrug
"Yeah maybe".
