At the restaurant

Hyacinth and Sunny had just arrived at Maggiano's

"Hi, welcome in," said the hostess

"Hi I have a reservation," Sunny told her

"Ok, and what was the name on that?"

"Sunflower," Sunny answered

"Ok. You're all checked in. If you'll just follow me to your table." Hyacinth and Sunny followed the hostess to their table and when they sat down she gave them some menus and said

"Your waitress will be around to take your drink orders momentarily"

"Thank you!" Sunny answered cheerfully

"Of course" The hostess answered and walked off. Sunny and Hyacinth started talking and telling stories. Hyacinth was excited that Sunny actually paid attention to his long-winded stories and Sunny was realizing just how much fun Hyacinth could be when he wasn't stressing and overthinking everything. They were having so much fun with each other that Hyacinth didn't even notice that Clarion and Snow never showed up. When the check came Sunny reached to grab it to pay but Hyacinth grabbed it first.

"I've got it."

"Hyacinth, no. You don't have to do that."

"I know but I want to."

After they paid, they finished their sodas and walked out together. Hyacinth was finishing up another story. When they got outside, he said

"I guess we're meeting on Monday after all. You know, Sunny, I actually had a lot of fun with you tonight. Maybe we should do this whole "just the two of us for dinner thing" again sometime. On purpose this time."

"You know what, I actually wouldn't mind that. See you Monday?"

"See you Monday."

The next day

Snow was on her way over to Sunny's house to go hear about the date from her perspective. She wanted so badly to go tell Clarion how it had been from her point of view as the spy but she would have to wait until Monday. Snow knew better than to bother her friend on a weekend unless it was for a hockey game and even then she would go for the game and then leave. Even during the games she didn't like to spend a lot of time with Clarion and Milori. She found them overwhelming sometimes which was why she almost always ended up in the spare bedroom watching the game by herself. She got to Sunny's house and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" Snow walked in

"Hey, Sunny! So how was your date with Hyacinth?"

"OMG! It was amazing!"

"Really?"

"Yes! Turns out that when you get him away from Clair, Hyacinth isn't so all over the place. And get this, he asked me out on another date!"

"No way! For real?"

"No, I'm messing with you. Of course, I'm for real!"

"Sunny, that's amazing!"

"I've been trying to text Clair all morning to tell her about it but she's not answering her phone." Sunny picked up her phone again to check for any new messages but there was nothing there.

"Yeah, I'd stop trying if I were you. She's probably not going to answer her phone."

"Well, why not?" Snow looked at Sunny as if she had just said the dumbest thing ever (which, in Snow's mind, she had) and said

"Sunny, what day is it?"

"It's Sunday, why?"

"So where do you think Clair is?" Sunny thought about it for a minute and then Snow saw it hit her like a ton of bricks. Her eyes widened and she said

"Ohhhhh. She's in winter, isn't she?"

"Ding ding ding."

"Does she do this every weekend?"

"Yeah, as a general rule, I try not to bother her or Milori between Friday afternoon and Monday morning."

"Really?"

"Yep. Every Friday as soon as she finishes her work she's gone and you won't see her again until Monday. At that point, I give up on trying to text or call her because I'm 99% sure that she shuts her phone off after that and leaves it off all weekend."

"Ok. Good to know."

This chapter is really short but it needed to be a separate chapter. I'm actually uploading two chapters today because chapter 11 is so good it can't wait until next week! See you on the next page!
