Chapter Three

The next day

Back at Milori's house he and his best friend Dewey were working on the plans for the frost forest where all of the winter fairies can practice frosting things. Dewey was working while Milori was zoned out thinking about Clarion. That's when Dewey looked up and saw Milori staring off into space. He starts trying to refocus his friend saying, "Hey! Milori! Dude! Earth to Milori, are you there?"

"Huh! What? Oh right. Sorry, Dewey."

"Dude! What's up with you today? Dewy throws a nearby pillow at Milori who catches it and throws it back over Dewey's head, and it lands on the couch. "You seem... distant"

"Nothing's up. It's just, I met a girl yesterday. She's got these amazing brown eyes and golden brown hair and wow is she beautiful!"

"Why do I get the sense that she's not from around here?"

"Because she's not. She's a warm fairy."

What!?! You know what I don't get you. I mean you're the lord of winter, you're the most popular guy around, you have all the girls chasing you, and you're in love with a warm fairy! Do you even know her name?"

"Yes. It's Clarion, and just FYI, I'm not interested in any of the girls in winter because all the girls around here are SO BORING!!! They all have white hair like me or dull black hair and every time I get close to them all they want to do is show me how good they are at frosting things like it's some kind of talent. Every winter fairy can frost stuff that's nothing special. But Clarion, she's different."

"Yes, she is different, and do you know why?"

"Why?"

"Because she's a WARM FAIRY!!!"

Over on the warm side at Clarion's house, she is hanging out with her best friend Mary when Mary asks her

"Hey, Clarion. Are you ok? You seem distracted."

"What no, I'm fine nothing is wrong I'm not distracted I'm the princess princesses are always focused."

"Yep. Something's wrong, you're acting weird. Spill. Now."

" Okay nothing is wrong, it's just I met a guy yesterday."

"Shut up! OMG!!! Details. Go. Now!!!"

"Ok. His name is Milori, he's tall, strong, handsome, kinda cute and he's got these bright blue eyes and when he looks at you it's like he's looking right into your soul. I think he might be kinda into me. Oh and he's a winter fairy."

"A WINTER FAIRY!!!

"Shhhhhh!!! Somebody's gonna hear you!!!"

"Sorry. A winter fairy! Clarion, are you crazy? Do you have any idea what Queen Raya would do to you if she found out that you were dating a winter fairy?"

"I know I know I know she'd probably take away my princess title and kick me out of the palace but I can't help it. He's just so handsome, and we're not exactly dating, we're just in love."

"Well, that's not much better."

"I know."

"You have no idea how dangerous this is do you?"

"Of course I do. But Milori and I will be careful. I'll never cross the border without my coat and I refuse to let him cross either."

"Okay well if you do what you say then I guess it's not that dangerous. So when do you see him again?"

"Mary!!!" Clarion bursts into a fit of giggles here dragging Mary in too.

"What? I'm just asking!"

"I'm going back to the border tonight. Hopefully, he's there."

"Can I come too? I want to meet him."

"Not tonight. But one of these days you can."

"Ok, fine."

Clarion looks at the sky. It's beginning to get dark. She tells Mary

"I'd better go."

"Go, go where?" Mary gasps and then says "No!!! You're going to meet him at the border aren't you!?!"

"Yes!"

"Ok have fun."

"I will."
