Clarion's POV
Two weeks later
I put the finishing touches on the guest room where my parents would be staying. The staff had offered to do this for me, but I had insisted on doing it myself. I knew that it would make it that much more special for my parents and that much more impressive if I did it myself versus having somebody else do it. Today was day one of a seven-day visit. Today I would let them get settled in, give them a tour of the palace and let them genuinely just get accustomed to the palace itself. Tomorrow would be day two during which they would meet my cabinet, the queen, her cabinet, and all of the talent heads. Despite the fact that they already knew most of my cabinet from when we were kids and had grown up together, this was a more formal introduction, and although they lived in Pixie Hollow their entire lives, getting to meet the queen and her advisors was a special treat. Day three was the big one. On day three, they would meet Milori, see the protection magic that he uses to keep me safe, get a tour of winter and they would get to meet the casual version of Snowflake, not the official business version. I checked the time. 9:45 time to go. Their flight would be getting in at 10. I had to get to the airport. I hoped that the press wouldn't be there. Of course, there would have to be a photo call scheduled unfortunately but, I really did not want to do it on the first day. This whole royalty thing was still new to my parents, and I didn't want to overwhelm them on the first day with a press call. I flew to the airport. The only reason Pixie Hollow had an airport was for transport to and from Angeles. That was the only place anyone ever went. It was also the most popular pixie hollow vacation spot. I sat in the greeting area and played on my phone for a little while. Finally, my parents turned up. And they were dragging their bags behind them. Because I really did not want to fly all the way back to the palace carrying their heavy bags, I sprinkled a little bit of pixie dust on them to make them float. We started flying back to the palace. Fortunately, it wasn't that far from the airport. Once we got there, I took my parents up to the room.
"All right here it is," I said, as I opened the door. "I decorated it all myself."
"Wow! Baby this is amazing." My dad said
"Thanks, I worked really hard on it. I'm gonna leave you two to get settled and unpack and everything. I have a meeting to go to. I should be back in about 45 minutes or so and then I'll take you for a tour. Sound good?"
"Sounds great," my mom said. I took off and left them to get settled. I was sitting in on yet another very boring meeting with Queen Raya. She was constantly making me sit in on the budget meetings. What made them extra boring was the fact that Queen Raya's ministers were a bunch of grumpy old guys who loved to argue about every little thing which meant it took forever to get anything done. 1 hour and 3 arguments later, I finally got to my parents. I took them around and they were very impressed with the library. Then, dinner time rolled around and they wanted to go out to eat. I asked where they wanted to go but I already knew the answer. My parents absolutely adored Maggiano's. Sure enough, my mom said,
"Well, Maggiano's of course."
"Can we even still get reservations this last minute?" My dad asked, "Remember when the kids were growing up if we wanted to get in we always had to call two hours in advance at least for reservations and sometimes even then we couldn't get in." I then said something that I was probably going to regret because it meant that I would have to put off seeing Milori for a couple more hours, but it was worth it.
"I can get us in," I said reluctantly.
"Really?" Questioned my mom.
"Yeah. I'm the princess and I'm friendly with the manager."
