Love at First Sight

Chapter 35

Over on the warm side, Clarion had just finished explaining the same story to Tink when Tink came up to her and said

"Queen Clarion, we have a problem. Look!" Clarion looked outside to see snow falling from the sky. She quickly flew to the border with Tinker Bell right behind her. A few of Tink's friends joined them and said

"We saw the snow." The three warm side ministers flew up alongside Clarion and Sunny said

"Queen Clarion something's wrong."

"The temperature seems to be plummeting," said Red

"The hibiscus are halfway to hibernation," exclaimed Sunny

"Now now ministers, let's not panic,"

"You are absolutely right," was Hyacinth's answer, until he saw the snow

"Aaah, SNOW!" he shrieked. Sure enough there was a massive swirling, snow cloud, coming, right there way. As it came, it was starting to freeze some of the trees in the Autumn Woods. Tink saw two of her friends Clank and Bobble down in the river, trying to get their snow machine unstuck from underneath a log. Tink flew down to them and started trying to help them.

"Guys! Down here!" Tink hollered to her friends. Her friends flew down and also joined them in attempting to unstick the machine. This extra bit of fairy power was all they needed to be able to get the machine unstuck and shove it somewhere else. Clarion saw them breathe a sigh of relief, thinking that everything was over and then she saw it. Ice. It was slowly creeping across the log and over into the warm side.

"Oh my goodness! The seasons have been thrown out of balance."

"Is the temperature continues to drop, it will freeze all the pixie hollow!" Worried Hyacinth. As a branch broke off of a nearby tree Red said

"Queen Clarion, the pixie dust tree."

Clarion gasped and took off in the direction of the tree.

"We must hope that the tree survives the freeze. Otherwise there will be no more pixie dust. Life in pixie hollow will change forever. And no fairy will ever fly again. Hurry. We must do everything we can." Everyone began rushing around, grabbing whatever blankets they could, any means of keeping the tree protected. The animal fairies were moving all the animals into different areas to keep them warm. Some went into logs, others in the flowers anything that they could do to stay protected. Mary was shouting at the top of her lungs giving out directions to everyone in her usual, bossy fashion. Tinker Bell had a basket of roly-polys that she was taking to her house. She set the basket inside near the many other bunnies, skunks, and birds that were hiding out in her house.

Then she had an idea.

Back at the tree

Clarion was doing everything she could but nothing was working. The wind was blowing all the blankets off of the branches. Clarion was starting to lose hope when she heard a growl. She looked up to see Tinker Bell riding on Fiona's back with her sister and two other winter fairies flying behind her. Clarion flew up to them and Tink got off of Fiona and said

"They can help."

"Our frost," said Peri "It covers like a blanket. It can protect the tree." Clarion looked behind her at the stream of pixie dust that was flowing from the tree and decided that she was willing to do whatever it took to protect it. She looked at the three girls and said

"Do it." The girls smiled at each other and took off in separate directions to begin frosting the tree. Clarion watched anxiously but as the freeze began to move faster, she started getting more worried. Tink and her friends were running around handing out blankets for everyone to keep warm with. The frost fairies came up to Clarion and said

"The tree, it's too big. We're never going to make it."

"I'm sorry," Peri said to her sister. They had lost all hope when they heard a screech. They looked up to see a fleet of snowy owls flying their way with what looked like every winter fairy flying behind them. Riding on the back of the lead owl was a very familiar face. Clarion smiled at the sight of Milori coming to save the day and she felt her heart get fluttery. The sun glistened on the white feathers of the owls and made them look so angelic.

Over in winter a couple of hours earlier

Milori was working in his office looking over some paperwork when the door burst open. Milori looked behind him to see his sister looking a little panicked. He got up and went over to her.

"Sis, what's wrong? Talk to me."
