My treasure

Angst with a happy ending

Nagi's pov:
I want to beat Isagi Yoichi. Right now that's the only thing that can make me stronger. I want to become the best with Reo but if I keep staying by his side we are both going to remain on this level. That's not enough. I want to win the World Cup. I want to be the best with Reo. That's why I know what I must do now. I have to be on Yoichi's team. I know Reo doesn't want him to play with us but I know that it's for the best purpose.

Once I saw Isagi enter the room I headed towards him.
"Hello!" I greeted him blankly.
"Hi! I see that you finished faster than me, heh?!" He said jokingly.
I smiled and then proceeded with my request.
"Ego announced that on this stage we have to form teams of three players." I was about to continue but then Bachira walked in.
After we greeted him, Ego appeared on a screen and explained the rules again.
"Isagi, we're a team we just need one more player!" Bachira said happily.
Isagi nodded and then scanned the room with his eyes. I took the chance to continue talking.
"Isagi, join me and Reo!"
Reo glanced at me furiously but I knew that I was making a good choice.
"Hah, as if! I won't leave my friend alone!"
I thought for a second and then talked again.
"Okay then, let me join your team!"
Isagi and Bachira exchanged a few words before agreeing.

At that exact moment I ruined everything. I didn't realize it. I was too focused on becoming the best that I had forgotten about Reo.

As I was about to leave I heard a sob. It was Reo who suddenly grabbed my arm.
"Nagi...you said that we were going to be a team.."
"Yes but right now I have to do it, I have to play with Isagi!" I said as I pulled my hand away.

There was silence between us before Reo started speaking again.
"Please Nagi, don't leave me! Think about what you're doing please! What about all of our memories? Are you just going to leave everything behind? You're my best friend Nagi, please!" He begged me while tears started flowing from his eyes.
"But I have to leave so that we become stronger!"
"No...how could you say that... can't you tell how selfish you are!?" He started screaming.
I felt a tight pain inside my chest. What have I done...

"You know what, leave! Go ahead! Become the best do whatever! I hate you and you can't change that!"
What's this feeling? I-I feel so lonely and I didn't even leave yet.
I glanced at Isagi and gave him a nod signaling for him to find someone else. Then I turned around and tried to approach Reo.
"I'm sorry! I didn't realize what I was doing please forgive me! I was to caught up on trying to become the best..."
It was my turn to beg him.
"I told you that you're nothing to me now!" He screamed while looking at the ground.
"But Reo, I love you !"
He then looked up at me before slapping my cheek hard. It stung. I deserved it. No, actually I had to experience something worse. Still, I was so selfish that I let tears escape my eyes.
"Nagi, don't joke around it's not the time!"
I held my cheek as I looked at him.
" I love you, my treasure!" I said with a shaky voice.
Reo's eyes widened.
"I'm...your treasure!? But..I-" He said shockingly . He then broke down into tears.
I hugged him and cried aswell.
"I..Nagi, I'm so sorry! I exaggerated and I *sobs* shouldn't have gotten so mad! And I shouldn't have slapped you.." he said as he brought my face towards his by holding my cheek.
"No,Reo you're wrong, I shouldn't have thought of leaving you! I'll never do this again, I promise!" I said.
He glanced at me again as he left himself smile softly. He then connected our lips in a gentle yet full of emotion kiss. I snaked my hands around his waist and brought him closer to me, as I kissed back.

We pulled away and laughed slightly.
"I love you too!" Reo said softly.
"I promise that I won't ever hurt you again! I was such an idiot..."
Reo smiled and nodded.
"You're my idiot after all."
