KINZOKU MIKAZUKI STEPPED INTO HER FATHER'S OFFICE, hands carefully placed behind her back as she strolled into the room. The sorceress knew that despite the fact that this was her own home, she wasn't particularly welcome into Asahi's space. It was the main reason why her mother and the Clan Elder's had insisted on sending her to the Kogane Manor, the furthest away possible from the main house.
Mikazuki didn't really mind, and although spying on her father was harder than expected, at least she was afforded some sense of peace being away from the main house and the everchanging woes of her crazy family. The Kinzoku didn't deserve her, of this she was certain. The sorceress lingered by the doorway, balancing herself on the ball of her feet as she scanned the room with a quick glance.
Kinzoku Asahi was sitting on his usual spot, head buried between large piles of paperwork while he signed things, the sigil of the Magistrate branded into every single piece of paper. For a moment, Mikazuki considered announcing her presence, as it seemed her father hadn't even noticed the intrusion.
However, the sorceress was quickly reminded exactly of what kind of man – or monster – stood in front as he pulled another paper and licked his finger to flick through the pile. Asahi always noticed when she was there, like a sixth sense he'd developed just for her sake. It was a smart and rather unfortunate move, firstly because Asahi knew he wasn't safe where Mikazuki was concerned – they both knew she would take whatever chance she could to end his life – and secondly because so many people had already tried and failed to kill him.
Asahi wasn't an easy man to kill, something Mikazuki was becoming more and more away of by the second. Taking him down wouldn't be an easy task, but if she played her cards right she wouldn't even have to. The man blinked slowly, still completely engrossed in his task without even bothering to look up or greet his daughter. Mikazuki clicked her tongue, shifting her weight to her good look as her gaze flickered through the ostentatious golden décor of the room before she cleared her throat.
"Father" she tried, her voice betraying the frustration she was currently feeling "I believe you sent for me?" she asked, unsure.
Asahi looked up from his paperwork for one brief second, taking a good look at his daughter before focusing back on the papers strewn across the desk. He appeared calm, with his black hair slicked back while a pair of thin glasses slid down his nose, but Mikazuki wasn't fooled by this act; she could see right through him, detecting that small hint of nervousness in his stiff shoulders. At least for once, Mikazuki couldn't possibly be the one to blame for his mood, as she had barely stopped by the Estate since her last mission.
"That's right" he said slowly, signing his name of the dotted line before smashing The Magistrate's seal into the melting wax "I'm glad to see you were able to make it despite your busy schedule" he commented, amused.
Mikazuki pursed her lips, an annoyed expression crossing her features as she stepped further into the room. Asahi smiled, satisfied by her reaction as he continued with his task. He knew her well enough to know exactly how to push her buttons, and even after a decade in exile, it seemed the sorceress was still quite easy to rile up. Mikazuki crossed her arms in front of her chest, brows furrowed as she let out a frustrated sigh.
"Actually, I need to be back at the school before noon, so..." she trailed off, an expectant tone in her voice.
Asahi nodded, putting the papers away and looking at the Kinzoku heiress through his thick glasses.
"I'll be brief, then"
His eyes flashed gold, that vitality that characterized the Kinzoku flickering in his gaze before disappearing under the blanket of quiet and solemn calmness that was his expression. Asahi waited, eyes perched on the young heiress expectantly, almost as if he was inspecting her, watching every single detail and taking mental notes on her appearance. Mikazuki shuffled uncomfortably, suddenly feeling the need to straighten her back and pull on her messy hair, yet she fought the urge and stood unmoving.
