Free... For Now

tea

I wake up and look at the clock, thirty minutes till I have to meet Mrs. Amulet. I get up and put on a black dress with a pocket on this side and a place to put my dagger. I take my ponytail out and put it into a tight bun with two strands in front of my face. I look at myself and then decide to put on some eyeliner and some makeup. I look over at Artemis who is on my makeup vanity and put her onto my shoulder. I put on my boots and head down to the tea area after ten minutes of trying to find it. 

"Am I late?" I ask stumbling in Artemis flying to my seat.

"Not at all, I see you got my gift. Noah said you loved animals especially Ravens, he said you knew a lot about them would you like to tell me about them?" She asks as I sit down.

"A raven is a keeper of secrets and a messenger between realms. The knowledge comes to those who are worthy of it or those who honor the mystery and wisdom and truth. You can learn from them how to dance with the shadows in perfect harmony, and they symbolize many things that's why I love them so dearly." I say barely above a whisper watching Artemis fly around in the night time sky. 

"It seems you know a lot" 

"I do value knowledge of everything, mathematics, animals, languages, and science although I am horrible at most of those" I smile

"What are you good at?" She asks me sipping her tea and looking at me 

"I am good at teaching, fighting, flying, and somewhat good at controlling my magic. But I am also good at playing the violin and flute" I respond looking at her and drinking some of my tea

"Two different instruments, both beautiful and elegant." She smiles at me "Would you mind playing me a song on the violin?" 

"Of course, Mrs. Amulet."

I conjure a violin in my hands and get the bow out of the case standing up. I rest my chin on the chinrest and play one of the ancient songs I was taught.  I keep on playing until my fingers are red and sore, the music taking me away from that pain. I close my eyes and melt into the music, When I hit the last note holding it out I look at her and gesture for her to signal me to stop. She does a hand signal and I stop setting the violin in the case and she claps.

"That was wonderful! Who taught you how to play?" She asks me looking at me with curiosity

"My adoptive mother taught me when I was young, she valued knowledge as much as me" I smile at her sitting back down.

"You said you could speak another language, may I ask which one?" She asks me tilting her head

"Well I can speak French, Spanish, and Italian" I respond taking one of the pastries and feeding a crumb of it to Artemis 

"Can you say something in Italian for me?"

I look at her and smile. I think of all the things I could say and finally find the perfect thing to say. "Amo moltissimo tuo figlio, ho intenzione di sposarlo un giorno" I smile at her. She smirks a little.

"I think he would love to marry you" She says smiling

"You could understand me?" 

She smiles and nods. We finish eating and she tours me all around the castle. I find a room where some of the knights are training and they all turn to look at me. Some of them whisper but one comes up to me with a look on his face that says 'you look weak'.

"If you plan on telling me I look weak I suggest you hold your tounge, I fought off a whole village by myself so do not start this." I say looking him dead in the eyes.

"Well you are a women and women ar-' He gets interrupted by a dagger to his throat.

"Fucking say it again and this dagger will glide across your throat, and you will choke on your own blood, not fun for you but oh so fun for me to watch."

He gulps and nods and when I let him go he scurry's away. All of them look at me in fear, I look at them before ordering them all to work. Mrs. Amulet looks at me and smiles she admired my bravery standing up to one of her knights. 

"You know, I think you would make a good general. You have a just heart, one that is brave but gentle and kind as I said. With a ready mind as well" She says looking down at me. She stops me in the throne room where Noah and his father are. She puts me in front of her and makes me go onto my knees. "Auroura Thorn, goddess of shadows, strongest warrior I have seen in a long time, I have an offer for you. You will be my spy and my general, you will be under my guidance as long as I live do you accept"

I look up with her a smile on my face. "Mrs. Amulet, mother of the love of my life, a gorgeous queen, and one of the wisest people I have met, I accept your offer." I say and she guides me up bowing to me. 

A new life, one that is finally fit for me.
