Free... For Now

memories

I sit down in my room in my shorts and sports bra looking at my wounds. I have had fights in the past each with a little scar, but to me my scars are just prizes for times I have survived a tough time. I go over to my bag and pull out some bandages and wrap them around my stomach and right knee. Today is my first day as general, if that one guy tries to fuck with me again he is going to be fired or worse. I put on a black body suit with a belt that has extra storage and a mask with a hooded cape. I look over at Artemis and she flies onto my shoulder and I give her some treats before walking into the training room.

"Guys it's the new general!" someone yells and they all salute to me

i walk through the training room and to the front. I wave my hand and they go to rest.

"As you could see from my demonstration yesterday," I look over at the guy from yesterday and he looks away. "Anybody who acts out around here, or discriminates, will get their head chopped off. do I make myself clear cadets?" I question

"Yes Ma'am!" They all shout, and I signal for them to continue their training.

I walk around studying their techniques correcting them here and there, but they seem to do well so far. Soon Noah comes in and looks at me sparring with one of them to help them, I win of course but I help them up and encourage them to keep training. They nod and go over to the robots, and I face Noah and smile at him walking over.

"Well, hello there general, how is your first day?" He asks me looking in my eyes before kissing me

"Ok, I think they're scared of me enough seeing me kissing a prince just adds fire to their fear" I giggle putting my forehead to his

"well you are quite frightening"

"How are your parents adjusting to you being a prince and not a princess?" I ask him worry in my eyes

"Mom and Dad, both accept me, they are just trying to get used to it" He responds kissing me again

I smile at him and we both walk around seeing how everyone trains and what techniques they were taught. Soon we are both called into the throne room and there are three spy's on their knees in front of me and the king and queen are nodding at me to make a decision. I pull out my dagger and make one of them face me.

"Why are you here?" I ask the girl she had red hair freckles and green eyes ones that looked like the forest. 

"We were sent to deliver a message to you, the arch king wants you to know he is going to give you hell at the ball." She says laughing 

"Take them all away to the dungeon and integrate them. I want all the information you can get out of them"

They all go to the dungeon and at the end of the day I find myself in my room clutching my stomach in a ball crying tears onto my bed. I never really wanted to be a spy, never wanted to be the goddess of shadows, and never wanted to fight. Of course, I love everything I have I am very fortunate but the memories of the lab is coming back to me.

I walk around the lab trying to find some food. They don't feed us often so this time I was not having it.  I finally found some food with some letters on it but I ignore it and eat it sitting beneath a table. A boy comes in about my age and smiles at me asking if he could have some of the food.  Me and the boy talk for a while before three guards come into the room and make us to two separate rooms.

"What were you doing in the kitchen?" one of them asks

"I was getting food and that boy asked me-"

They slap me and I endured hours of torture. I had burn makes all over my body, bruises and a cut that would last a lifetime. I get back to my cage and whispers everybody looking at me and whispering about me. 

I want to feel ok again.

I wake up in a sweat gasping for air. I get out of bed and change into a sports bra and shorts and go back to my bed. Artemis comes over to me and sits on my shoulder nuzzling into my neck. I hear a light knock on my door

"Who is it?" I ask knowing its Noah but I just need to be sure.

"Noah, my love, can I come in?" He asks me and I hum in response. He comes into my room and notices the sweat and the bandages on my and he gently walks over. He sits down and gently put a hand on my back to comfort me. "It's just a memory my love, it's the past nothing is going to hurt you. Not as long as I am here" 

God why do I love him so much.
