Y/n S/n slowly unlocked the door to her small apartment, her feet aching from standing for hours at The Bijou movie theatre. She kicked off her worn-out sneakers and let out a sigh of relief as she felt the coolness of the floor beneath her feet. She made her way to her bedroom, unzipping her work polo and unbuttoning her khakis along the way.

She reached her closet and grabbed a fresh pair of pajamas, a soft and oversized t-shirt, and a pair of loose-fitting sweatpants. The comfier the better. After shedding her work clothes, Y/n hurriedly made her way to the bathroom, turning on the shower to let the water warm up. She stood under the spray, letting the warm water wash away the grime and exhaustion of her shift.

After her rather lengthy shower, she wrapped herself in a fluffy towel and made her way to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and took out a small box of Mac & Cheese, one of the only things she could afford at the moment. Y/n boiled the pasta in a small pot and mixed it in the powdered cheese packet, stirring it until it became a smooth and creamy sauce.

As she ate her small portion of mac & cheese, Y/n properly got dressed before browsing the internet, looking for a movie to watch. She wanted to escape her reality for a little while and forget about her low-paying job and her mounting bills. She knew she shouldn't pirate movies, but she hardly had any money to spare for entertainment. No one could blame her for not wanting to waste money on streaming services. They were becoming expensive.

As the h/c-haired woman was preoccupied with herself, Cupid spent the next few moments slipping into her apartment through the open window, his wings folding neatly against his back as he landed silently on the floor. He looked around the bedroom, taking in the mortal's belongings with fascination. He had always been curious about humans and their way of life, and he found himself drawn to Y/n. He wanted to know more about her and this was a way of doing so without interacting directly face to face.

"Oh my gosh." He overheard the muffled voice of Y/n groan out. She seemed to be upset and — for a second — he stopped in his tracks for a moment. Only for a moment.

After what seemed like an eternity (which was just thirty seconds in reality), Cupid tip-toed his way out of Y/n's chambers and out toward the living room where she was currently located. He couldn't help but admire the sacredness of everything. He knew that each item had a story behind it and he felt an immense respect for the mortals who had created and used them.

Eventually, Cupid found himself sitting on the ground beside Y/n's couch. She was sitting on the edge, her attention focused on her computer which sat on top of her lap. Cupid watched her closely, fascinated by her every movement. He felt a pull towards her, a feeling he had never experienced before.

Lost in his thoughts, Cupid let out a small sigh, and a gust of wind stirred the air, causing a few strands of hair on the back of Y/n's head to flutter. This caused the young woman to tense and, startled, she spun around as quick as a blink of an eye to look behind her but found nothing there.

Cupid — who was in his concealed state — felt a range of emotions flood through his body as Y/n was now basically staring directly into his eyes, even though she could not see him. He felt flushed and shocked, but also excited and intrigued. He realized that he was becoming obsessed with her, even though he had only met her earlier that day.

He reminded himself of his duty as a Cupid — to help mortals find love, not to fall in love with them himself. He forced himself to return her gaze, his eyes boring into hers, hoping she couldn't see the emotions churning within him. "Hm..." Y/n frowned and slowly turned back toward her device whilst the god of love himself sat there. Thinking to himself.

He knew that he was playing with fire, but he couldn't resist the pull toward this mortal woman. He would have to be careful, but he couldn't help but wonder what fate had in store for them.

"Ugh, finally," Y/n said as she found a movie that caught her attention and clicked on it. She curled up on her couch, wrapped in a cozy blanket, and pressed play. The movie was captivating, and for the next two hours, Y/n was lost in the story, forgetting about her troubles and the outside world. Cupid, on the other hand, watched everything from over her shoulder.

In many ways, it was a non-official date.

As the credits began to roll, Y/n let out a contented sigh. She knew that her problems wouldn't go away, but for a little while, she had escaped them. She suddenly got up from the couch, leaving the blanket behind in a haphazard mess. However, the sound of the object falling to the ground caused Y/n to halt as she peered over her shoulder.

Upon seeing the fallen blanket, she pinched the bridge of her nose and stood there for a moment. Debating whether or not she should go so much as to pick up the blanket, fold it, and place it back neatly on the couch. At the thought, Y/n grimaced. She was tired and who did she have to impress anyway? She'll just do it tomorrow.

With that, she made her way to her bedroom, her steps quiet in the darkened apartment. Cupid followed her, his clouded eyes never leaving her form as she climbed into bed and pulled the covers up to her chin. And as she settled into sleep, the god of love couldn't help but watch her a little longer.

He stood at the foot of the bed, watching as her chest rose and fell with each steady breath. She looked peaceful and content, and he felt a warmth spread through him as he watched her sleep. After taking note of this, Cupid couldn't resist any longer. He removed the enchantment that made him imperceptible to the mortal eye and leaned down to place a gentle kiss on Y/n's forehead. He lingered for a moment, his heart racing as he felt the softness of her skin under his lips.

"Goodnight, αστέρι μου." He pulled away slowly, careful not to disturb her sleep but as he stood back up... Cupid felt conflicted.

He could not let the three brothers — or any god or goddess for that matter — know about this.
