At some point of the night, the place started to get a little crowded so Louis decided to go out for a smoke.

The bright city lights shining under the moonlight, the night seemingly not offering any stars to shine in the pitch black sky.

"Hi..." he hears the voice of his friend.

"Hey."

"I think we should talk..." Lea says as she sits down on a chair next to Louis who just glances at her raising an eyebrow.

"Now?"

"Before you find out by somebody else." Is all she says as she looks ahead not sparing Louis a single look.

"What's going on?" Louis asks already preparing himself for bad news- judging by his friends sudden seriousness and the way that something just seemed off tonight.

That's when Louis looks at his friend closer, looking at the dark bags under her eyes, the way that small lines have formed on her face making her look even older than she is, Louis now notices the way that she seems so pale, how she looks so tired.
He notices that his friend isn't as lively as she always tends to be.

"I-" she starts but seemingly soon enough regrets it and shuts her mouth before takingsmil a breath in and then looking at Louis, "This year hasn't been going easy on me," She says and then she let's the words out a little faster, "It's been a year since I found out that I suffer from cancer."

And Louis could swear that he felt his blood run cold as he looks at her, his feet weakening even though he's sat down .

"What do y-"

"It's bad Louis, it's as if my body keeps getting weaker and weaker every day." She says as her hand on top of the table clutches in a fist. "The doctor said that there is hope with me but... I'm so scared."

"Lea- you... you should have told me..." Louis says slowly, the words barely audible as he tries to understand whatever the hell is going on, glancing at his mate trying to search for some hidden smile, something that will hint that this is all a prank.

Perhaps everything is just a dream, a nightmare that he's soon gonna wake up from.

"How could I do so when I knew that you haven't been any better either?" She says, her eyes sad, so so sad and Louis just want to embrace her in a hug, make her feel better, reassure her that everything is gonna be alright.

"Niall told you..." he says, ashamed.

"Louis I know that everything is so sudden but I really have to talk to you, I-" And that's it Louis gets up and hugs his friend close to himself.

"Shh... We can do that, yeah? I'm here..." he says as he pats her back gently, being there for her.

"I'm scared, Lou..." she says as she clutches Louis' shirt I her hand. "If I-" She stops as Louis tightens his grip around her, the unspoken words making Louis heart ache.

"It's gonna be alright, everything will get better soon..."

"Yeah, maybe but..."

"Oh shut up, will you!" Louis tightens his hold on his mate making her chuckle.

"Yup, you're right, sorry." She admits and after that silence seems to fall upon them.

The mixed sounds of the traffic on the street below them and the muffled chatter of the lads inside in the livingroom is all that could be heard but they don't mind as they stay in close to each other for a little while longer.

And Louis doesn't know how long they stay like that but after a while he feels Lea move as she sits straight looking at Louis for a second.

"You know that I have to ask." She says after a short pause.

"Ask about what?"

"Louis William Tomlinson do you think I'm stupid?" She glares at him while trying to hide her smile.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." Louis dismisses her.

"So you are telling me that you haven't been looking at Harry tonight, not at all." She raises an eyebrow.

And that's one thing that Louis doesn't love about Lea, the fact that she just knows Louis doesn't even need to tell her anything she will just know- able to rea her mate like an open book.

"No? I mean, obviously no, I have no idea what you are on about." Louis says as he sits a little straighter.

Lea just raises an eyebrow- that's all it takes before Louis groans and starts speaking.

"I hate him." Louis says as if it's one of the most obvious things possible- a given fact.

Lea blinks once and then raises an eyebrow, "That's it?"

"No it's not just that! It's his eyes, it's the way he looks so emotionless- Lea, he's like a walking corpse!" Louis goes on, "It's the way that he looks at people as if they are below him, as if his ass is better anyone else!"

Louis pauses to take a breathe before letting out a humorless chuckle. "Once he kidnapped me to a club- Kidnapped me, as if he has the God damn right to and on top of that I have to find out that I was interesting enough for him, because apparently he likes treating people like toys, play and then throw them away."

And honestly, Louis is so annoyed with the way that the Curly haired man acts- looking so beautiful and yet so dead- figuratively, of course.

"In conclusion I hate his guts."

"Louis, I know Harry, he may appear like a little bitch un the start but he's good, I mean it." She says slowly not surprised by Louis' words or his overdramatic antics.
"I thought you would have been mates by now, honestly."

"Oh fuck no."

"Well it still doesn't explain why you haven't stopped looking at him all night long."

"I don't know, I just..." Louis pauses because why does he keep on looking at Harry- the Curly haired lad has always seemed intriguing enough to be looked at.

With that thought Louis nods- that's it. "He's just intriguing, 's all" Louis states just in time before the door of the balcony opens.

And Louis has come to terms with the fact that the universe hates him so of course the first thing that Louis sees when he looks at the person that came out are the all too familiar curls of a certain green eyed lad.

Of fucking course.
