"Running a bath for your wounded husband"

"Are you sure? I don't think, you should go alone." You pushed, reaching for your cloak and weapon.

"I'll be alright, love." he reassured, grasping your hand before it could even brush your equipment, "You should rest, I can handle one night alone."

"Diluc..." you frowned, not so easily swayed. There was just something that didn't feel right to you; call it a hunch.

"You should stay and rest. I already feel terrible for letting you get hit last time," he murmured, his fingers brushing the bandages on your arm.

A few nights ago, you narrowly avoided a hilichurl's arrow; it left a little scratch. Diluc has always been protective of you, but at times like this, he always became straight up unreasonable. You didn't even need the bandage any more.

"Diluc, look at me." You cupped his cheeks, practically forcing him to meet your gaze, "I'm okay. Let me join you. You know, we work better together." You gave him a soft smile, bumping your noses together.

"(Y/N)..." he sighed, mirroring your actions as he cupped your face with his own hands, "Please, let me have some peace of mind and stay home. I won't be able to focus if you're with me."

You scrunched up your face in irritation, "I know, I know. You'd be too worried." you head-butted him lightly as you let go, realizing you won't be able to convince the man, "But don't crawl back to me when your ass is beat up."

A little amused smirk spread on Diluc's lips, "Understood, ma'am." he mockingly saluted.

You scoffed, "Just go before I change my mind." you threatened as you watched him gather his disguise.

"Don't worry too much. I've been at this for years now." he reminded, taking a hold of his claymore, silently slipping out of the winery.

He was good solo, you knew that. But sometimes, there were things his skill set wasn't exactly suited for. That's where you came in, you filled the places, he was lacking in. You made his life easier and not just in combat.

He absolutely adored you. You became his everything. A lovely sentiment, yet a deadly double-edged sword. The man would risk his own life to spare you from the smallest inconveniences.

You tried to reason with him many times but the habit was hard to break.

Later that night, close to dawn in fact, Diluc returned. Sneaking was harder for him now with all the injuries, he has sustained. You were right, he knew that well. He planned on keeping his promise and not bothering you with his predicament.

But when he entered the cosy bedroom... before he could even reach for the things he needed, the light switched on and he was greeted with your stern glare, "Welcome back, Diluc."

He winced, your tone reminding him of a mother scolding a naughty child, "Good morning, dear." he muttered, leaning on the door frame slightly to relieve some of the tension in his strained muscles.

You glared at him for a few moments longer, wanting him to suffer the consequences of his stupidity, but the poorly hidden pained expression he wore, made you reconsider. You sighed, shaking your head in an exasperated manner. Your glare softened as you neared his tense form.

He didn't know what to expect from you when you were like this; mad at him.

"Idiot." You muttered, placing a gentle hand on his arm, carefully taking the claymore, he has yet to discard in fear that the metallic sound would wake you. Once the weapon was taken care of, put back in its original place, you turned back to your husband, "Well, come on."

He followed your lead like a lost puppy, still worried that you were going to scold him. He's been up against a lot of monsters in his life, but your wrath was still by far the scariest thing, he has seen or felt.

"Sit." You motioned for him to take a seat. With a sigh, you helped him remove his coat so you could examine the extent of his injuries, to determine the best course of action, "Burns, scrapes... Ugh, slime. We can say goodbye to all of these clothes."

He cringed at your reaction, you were definitely going to chew him out over it later. He ran into a pyro abyss mage and had to lead it to something with a counteracting element to break its cursed shield. Unfortunately, the closest thing was a hydro slime and the rest was history.

Judging from his reaction, explaining it would most likely make him die from embarrassment and while you would be delighted to see that, you would rather have your husband alive and functioning sooner rather than later.

"Alright, hot stuff. Strip, you're taking a bath." you dead-panned, standing to your full height to get the bath going.

Diluc hesitated, there was no reason for him to be embarrassed, you were married for Barbatos' sake. Yet, the uncomfortable tension, you had created, was really laying into him.

You glanced back, barely able to contain a giggle, "What? Want me to help you with that as well, you big baby?"

That seemed to shake him back to his senses, 'No fucking way.' As nice as it would have sounded in any other situation, right now he would only receive an untold amount of extra mockery.

"Leave the clothes on the floor, we'll see if anything is salvageable later." You practically commanded, receiving a low grunt of acknowledgement.

He doubted any of it could be fixed, perhaps re-purposed. Making his way into the bathroom, he noticed, you were mostly undressed as well, tying your hair back. He gave you a questioning look.

"You think, I trust you to get all that slime off? Those suckers are a pain to deal with when alive but even worse once dead." you remarked, lightly pushing him towards and into the bathtub, now filled with warm water.

He could feel the change almost immediately, the tension slowly leaving his overworked limbs. A small sigh of relief left his lips.

"Comfy?" you asked, wetting the cloth, you were going to clean (and torture) him with.

"Mm-hm." he hummed, his exhaustion hitting him like a tsunami. He would have fallen asleep right there if it wasn't for your conscious and sly efforts to keep him awake.

You skilfully washed off all the dirt and slime of his well-sculpted torso. Undoing his ponytail, you raked your fingers through his scarlet locks, occasionally scraping his scalp with your nails.

The man would have purred at the attention if he was a cat. Hell, he was close to doing so anyway.

Once satisfied, you untangled your hands from his hair, examining the water, 'Not too bad, seems like the clothes really took most of the blows.' a sly smirk made its way onto your lips as you slowly undid your undergarments.

The first thing, he noticed was the change in water level before he almost jumped, once he felt your body lower itself over him. Staring at you, just inches away, made his face flush, almost matching his hair.

Once settled, you raised your hand to catch his chin, pulling him closer. Your breaths mixing with how little space was left, "you've been really naughty, you know that?" you whispered in the most sultry voice, you could muster.

Diluc was frozen; shock, embarrassment and a little bit of excitement all flooding his veins, "Uh-"

"Hm? You play around, saving Mondstadt from the creatures of Abyss... Leaving your spouse at home to fix your inevitable injuries. Anything you'd like to say for yourself, Darknight Hero?" you taunted, amusement dripping like honey from every word.

"I- uh-" he was unfocused. It was too much at once, his mind having to work overtime to catch up.

"Nothing?" you purred, trailing your free hand over his chest, nails leaving agitated red trails across his heated skin.

"I'm... sorry?" he muttered, voice cracking a little.

"Are you?" you teased, leaving soft kisses along his jaw, purposely avoiding his lips, "I don't think, you are."

"I am." he took in a sharp breath when your nails dug into his thigh.

"Prove it," your lips tugged into a sadistic grin, "Prove it and beg."
