This chapter may be confusing in the beginning but if you read carefully you will understand what may seem confusing:)

The body
It has been three days since Kratos brought his daughter back home. But even if some time had passed since she was left in her bed her state did not seem to change one bit.
Berenice was lying in her bed all these days, lying down and sleeping all day long. She did not for a single moment open her eyes, nor moved her hands or head, nor did she speak at all. Her body was cold to the touch and for this Atreus had covered her with furs and a blanket.

And although Berenice herself showed no awareness of her surroundings, Atreus did not stop talking to her or leave her side. He remained near or on her bed, all day long, and he chose to read her the poems she had written. He thought that if he read her poems to her then the voice of a familiar person saying something also familiar and known to her would give her some motivation to come back. Of course he did not completely believe in it but it was a way to have her close to them.

All these years that Berenice sat next to her brother and kept him company, told him stories and sang to him, while she herself had never been sick in her life, now he could repay her and he would stay close to her.
He did not even want to imagine what would have happened if Freya didn't bring her back to life. It was only in the hours when Berenice was dead that Atreus felt as if his remaining world crumbled down, as the other half had had already been, when their mother was gone.

Kratos, on the other hand, may on the outside appeared to be silent, constantly angry and sullen, but deep down he was terrified, angry and frustrated.
He never spoke too much, but in fact his soul was screaming. Atreus did not realise it but Mimir could see it in his eyes.
He was scared for his daughter, he was afraid for her condition. In the nights when Atreus and Mimir would sleep he would stay up late and sit next to his daughter, never leaving her side. However, no matter how many times he stayed up all night, staying by her side, nothing changed. His daughter had been saved just to have her as a doll in the house. And they could do nothing but look at her and hope for miracles. Despair was something destructive to his soul compared to the hope in Atreus' heart.

Atreus remembered their mother's death very well and Kratos remembered his first daughter's death very well.
They cannot bear to lose Berenice. Not again...

This day, which is the third morning in a row, nothing changes for Berenice. She is just lying on her bed covered in furs and a blanket, constantly asleep and not doing anything different.

Of course, Atreus is sitting on her bed, next to her, as he does every day, and recites one of the poems she herself wrote, in a clear but calm voice.
His gaze did not change since he remained next to her. It was sad and hopeful at the same time, but it also hid fear and deep worry.

He is reading her a poem that she had written about the winter moon, on her notebook, the one that if someone touched would snatched from his hands.
Now that she is sleeping is the perfect opportunity for Atreus to read her poems which she never shared very easily but more powerfully.

Atreus: "The cold is no burden when such beauty is seen around us
The clouds do the favour
When they show the moonlight clear behind the flakes before us
And the moon shall shine and show the way through the dark path we seek
How splendid is the silence when the snow we shall see
And when the flakes shall gently touch the moon and flee
The sun may shine on us but it won't be with us in all days before us
So when the moon shall rise again we dance once more, and again, as long as it stays "

That was the poem. And this Atreus read to her as long as he remained alone at home with Mimir left on the near pillow on a table.
When he finishes reciting, Mimir decides to express his opinion about this particular poem.
