Chapter Eight - Sleeping Beauty

Later
After this endless long path amongst the dead and after this last emotional conversation between Berenice and Calliope, and some more walking Berenice was finally able to face the end of this whole journey.

Berenice:Here it is... I see it. We are finally here!

The entrance is right before their eyes, only a few steps away from their spot.
After all of this struggling, all this trouble they are both finally there.
Even if Berenice remains patient though it seems that Calliope is extremely hyped and excited, as she jumps full of  joy and calls Berenice with her.

Calliope:Yes, yes! Let's go, let's go, let's go!
Berenice: Calliope, wait! Wait...

Berenice tries to keep up with the girl and her enthusiastic speed but that is not possible for the moment. All of a sudden, while Calliope just wants to reach the end of this long path to her mother, runs, without suspicion or readiness for enemies or obstacles. She is so happy and enthusiastic that she does not even see what is around her.
And then it happens.

Persephone, the wife of Hades suddenly appears in a rage from behind a tall pillar, comes out of it and instantly grabs Calliope's neck firmly with one hand, lifting her up and making her look into her eyes.

Persephone:Now look at this... the one who survived the monsters outside the Elysium Fields. I did not expect to find you here.

Calliope, restrained by Persephone's hand, repeatedly thrashes, gasps, complains, and tries to defend herself by flapping her arms, struggling to breathe and break free.

Calliope:Go-... a-away... go...

Berenice rushes at great speed to where Calliope's scream is heard and reaches the side of Persephone who is grabbing little Calliope from her neck, full of anger and rage.

Berenice:Calliope!!

Berenice immediately pulls out her wings and two rings and rushes to Persephone's side.

Persephone gets surprised and almost disgusted to see Berenice coming towards her but even so she still holds Calliope up, suffocating her with her hand.

Berenice decides to rise, swing and fly forward towards the woman with technique speed, she jumps and drops the first ring on the ground near Persephone's feet so that she can somehow distract her and free Calliope.
Berenice sees Persephone distracted and without second thoughts immediately grabs and takes Calliope in her arms, flies a little further and leaves her somewhere she will be safe.

Berenice:Stay here!

Calliope, now released, begins to cough continuously and clutch her throat as tears of terror and woe run from her eyes and she nods.
Berenice, instead of starting a fight, however, decides to make sure that Calliope will be okay. She caresses Calliope's cheek and instead of going to fight, she stands there comforting her.

Berenice:It's gonna be fine...

Berenice holes Calliope right behind her and creates a makeshift wall with her wings as a shield for the girl so that she stays safe behind her.
She wishes to activate the winds of Hel But instead, her wings suddenly seem to light up with something different...

Her wings literally are set on fire, or rather emerge fire, the same way usually also uses Hel's winds. But this she does not remember acquiring or discovering beforehand. How did those flaming wings occur to her powers? When did she find them? Whatever it is, surely those wings were given to her from somewhere else as a second power option but now is not the time to find out.
It is very possible that this happened while she was with her uncle Deimos and now she does not remember it.
