"Heyyy bride to be!"

She couldn't crack a smile when she let her sister into her office.

"Ah ah, what's wrong na?" Laila questioned.

"You guys ambushed me that's what." She was mad about it. She felt betrayed.

"Is that why you refused to take our calls?"

"As matter of fact, yes."

"And you let us get worried for no reason." By us, Laila meant  everyone who has been present at the proposal including their father. Eric was a whole other story, he was more than willing to get married to her on the spot if need be, disturbing her with the need to meet his parents, start with preparing for their traditional introduction, fixing dates for their traditional and white wedding and all what not. She was the only person not riding the bandwagon of excitement for her own wedding.

"Titilola what's wrong?" Laila eventually asked

''I feel overwhelmed." She finally admitted.

"How?"

"Eric is going too fast and you two I was counting on to advise him against this, egged him on." Lola accused. This was too much for her.

However this did not make sense to her sister. "I thought you were ready to get married."

"Well I was but not to him."

"Ah mogbe!" Laila exclaimed, too astounded to utter another word for the next few minutes.

Lola looked away bashfully as her sister gave her a wide-eyed stare filled with so many expressions at once, ranging from surprise to rage and something in between.

"How many times do I have to tell you that you should get over this guy? How many times?" Laila's voice came off a little louder than usual.

"Of course I'm over David. I mean I love Eric but I just think we shouldn't rush things." She wanted to believe this was the truth.

"Lola this guy is handsome," Laila had started counting on her fingers, "he's young, wealthy, generous, a christian, not church goer, correct christian, so loving, caring and intentional about you. What else do you want?"

"David was all that before he cheated on me."

Laila was all levels of appalled at her statement. "Eric isn't David now! Stop making excuses. You're not getting any younger and you need to get married and start having your babies."

She exhaled resignedly. No one got it any way. "Yeah whatever you say."

"Mhm. Speaking of babies,"

"Is Noelle okay?" Lola asked quickly, referring to her goddaughter.

"Of course she's fine."

"Phew." She sighed in relief, "So what about babies?"

"You're about to be an auntie..." Laila sang out.

She froze, "Stop. You're joking."

"I found out a few days ago and I haven't told Yemi yet."

Lola squealed, running around her desk to hug her dearest sister as tightly as she could. "Oh my goodness, I'm so happy for you."

"Thank you. I'm happy for me too." Laila responded with as much excitement.

"Ohh Yemi's gonna be so happy." She clapped her hands gleefully unable to hold back the face splitting grin she had on.

"You think so?" Laila was nervous about his reaction for no exact reason.

"I know so! Oh my gosh, I'm gonna cry." She really was. Tears of joy that things were finally falling in place for Laila who had been through so much.
