"Hey Aiden. Get up, we have to go back outside." Stanley kicked the side of my bed, shaking me awake.
"Ugh. Why do you guys always have to wake me up? It's always when I have the best dreams." I slowly raised up and got out of bed.
"Not my fault. The commander claims that he heard something and needed us to go out because everyone else is a wuss and won't do it. He relies on us to do the job, so get up." He walked over to Kai's bed and woke him up too.
"Why doesn't he do it himself?" I asked.
"I wouldn't say that outloud, Aiden. It's like he can hear everything we say, y'know." He shook Kai by the shoulders and woke him up.
"Sure, whatever." I rolled my eyes and waited by the door for Kai to wake up. It felt like years.
"I'm serious. One time someone said something about the commander and then he got kicked out." He shrugged.
"I believe you, I guess."
Kai wasn't wanting to wake up so I walked over to him and rolled him out of bed myself. He fell off of the bed like a ragdoll and then suddenly jolted awake when he hit the ground.
"What the! What was that for?!" He yelled, rubbing his back.
"You wouldn't wake up so I rolled you off of the bed!" I laughed.
"Hurry up Kai. We're close to being late." Stanley started to walk off and leave us.
Me and Kai yelled for him to wait a second but he proceeded out the door.
"Aiden, what's going on? It's so late to work." He got his uniform on and placed all of his weapons in the places they should be on him.
"The commander heard something and so he tried to get some other groups to go out but they were pussies so now the commander relies on us to do it." I sighed.
"So, we were the last group he asked?"
"Mhm. I guess that means we are lucky."
"Not anymore." Kai sighed and opened the door. He held it open for me.
"Thanks." I smiled at him.
"No problem." He smiled back.
We both walked to Stanley who was far ahead of us but eventually, we caught up to him. All of that running we did really paid off.
"Why are you in such a rush?" I asked. "You don't really want to do this, do you?" I looked up at Stanley.
"I don't. I just hate being late."
"Well then, you could've gone ahead and we would've woken ourselves up." I jokingly smiled at him.
"I would've done that if I wanted you to lose your position here."
"Oh. Well, thanks for waking us up then." I looked down. Does that mean that he cares about me and Kai? I don't want to think too much about it. It will make me weak.
He hummed in response.
I looked back to Kai, to make sure he was still behind us. He looked puzzled.
"What's wrong Kai-" I began to say.
"Does that mean you care about us!?" He blurted.
"What- NO! Well... Sure." Stanley smiled a little. "BUT, sure isn't a yes or a no." He said
"Sure" means yes in my book." Kai smiled."Sure." Stanley sighed. Kai smiles at him. I knew that Kai was purposely bothering Stanley because he was bored.
At this point, we were in the woods. We've been walking around for a long time and didn't find anything. Everything was always dead silent when no one was talking, so me and Kai tried to come up with something to chat about.
