The following fortnight had been relatively quiet, radical-wise.
Chan and Felix had taken the instruction of feeding from other towns seriously, making sure their car was never followed on the roads every time they left. With the sudden change in location for feeding, Chan had had to accept that he would need to feed from normal, innocent people that were not deemed assholes by prior research. Of course, choosing between his nature and his kind-heart was a struggle, but nature always won, and he knew that deep down.
The first time he killed a completely innocent person, he had been quiet the entire drive home. Felix knew the elder needed time to process what he had done, and also knew that reassurance would only make Chan double-down on what he had done being a monstrous thing. So, he let the brunet come to terms with it on his own.
Although Chan's morals were strong, his brain had managed to keep the internal torment to a minimum, his primal instincts convincing himself that it is purely survival, and people die every day of different causes. He had managed to regain his normal self within a couple of days.
They hadn't seen any more of the radicals since, even when they were just running their usual errands around town. The couple figured they had scared them off enough, hopefully forever, though that kind of thinking was delusional. Radicals that fail to kill vampires on the first try don't typically give up; they recuperate and plan a new strategy.
Minho and Jisung, although confident they couldn't be so easily caught off guard, were still wary when going outside, especially since they hadn't seen the radicals and wouldn't be able to identify them on the street. Because of that, the pair decided to just lay low for a while.
Hyunjin, who was lucky enough to miss out on the night in question, had been an hour out of town on a small trip to a spa for a few days, and was not exactly thrilled to come back to such news. Of course, he was concerned for Chan, but after determining that he would be fine, directed his worry on the safety of all five of them for the foreseeable future. He, too, had decided to lay low, only heading out when he needed something, such as laundry detergent.
The next run-in with the radicals happened just as they were beginning to suspect things were becoming safer for them.
Chan and Felix had decided, that after two weeks of staying inside whenever possible, that they would go out on a date. They had chosen to go to the movies, even though nothing particularly interesting had been released. They were just tired of feeling like they should be afraid of a bunch of humans who clearly didn't know enough about them, and just got a lucky hit on the elder.
The film had finished at around ten, meaning that it was now dark, and the two were walking to their car when they saw them.
The three from before were stood by the car, which had been promptly repaired by one of Minho's contacts after their last interaction, with the youngest of the trio holding that same damn knife in his hand.
"Get the fuck away from the car, for god sake." Chan groaned, feeling anger bubble up in his chest.
Yes, he was mad they tried to kill him, but he was also mad that they had destroyed the car in the process.
"Switched the plates, huh?" One of the men observed, almost surprised.
"Didn't want you committing grand theft murder again." Chan shot back.
"Funny you'd claim us to be murderers." The other man sneered, looking impressed with his come back.
"Shouldn't you be running away scared, like last time?" Felix raised an eyebrow, stepping forward.
