I was invited to a gala.

I don't usually go to those things unless I'm bored out of my mind, but Boris instructed that I go because he would be there. He told me that we would talk, and he would give me instructions from there. I accepted since I'm sure it will be full of people, and it will make being near that man so much easier. I will feel so much safer with public around.

I'm hoping I don't react horribly to seeing him for the first time since what he did to me. I'm quite nervous if I'm being honest.

"I'll be back as soon as I can." I inform my brothers who are in the living room playing a video game.

"Don't go to bed late." I tell them seriously even if it's only Saturday.

"Don't worry about anything. We'll be fine." Ilya assures and I am trusting his words.

"Okay, I'll go now." I give them a smile that they instantly return.

"You look beautiful, Kat." Anton compliments and I believe him because I couldn't stop staring at myself in the mirror a few seconds ago.

"You always do." Ilya gives me a thumbs up and I return that.

"Good night, I'll see you later." With that I head toward the door and finally leave.

I breath in deeply and then exhale before relaxing my face to not look so nervous.

I go toward the entrance and walk through security all while keeping my calm. I finally enter the gala and briefly scan the place to see that there is quite a lot of people here already. I decide to go toward the bar to get myself at least a glass of water.

My throat has gone dry from all the nerves running through me.

I stop right in my steps when I see a very familiar back. I blink a few times because maybe I am only imagining things now from how awfully nervous I am.

No, he is still there.

The officer is standing there talking to some men and I'm not sure if his presence here tonight is a good or bad thing. I don't know if him being here is only going to make me feel worse than I already do.

My palms are so sweaty, and my heart is racing to the point I can hear it. Things will only get so much worse the moment I am faced with Boris. I continue walking to the bar pretending he doesn't existence in hopes that he won't notice me at all tonight. He will only irritate me and make this whole thing terrible.

"Hello, can I have a shot of the strongest alcohol you have?" I kindly ask the bartender in front of me who gives me a look indicating if I am sure of what I am asking.

I'm about to say yes when I realize that it might actually be a stupid thing to do on my part especially tonight and knowing the person I will be seeing.
