Kira scowled, staring down her sister furiously. "You know... I didn't think you'd show your face here again." Lydia smirked, crossing her arms and walking over. A small hiss came from Kira's mouth as Charlie stepped in, grabbing Kira's arm gently. "Kira, how about I show you how to make the special stuff, hm?" he smiled, before guiding her off out of a side door. Lydia narrowed her eyes, before facing Tyler and Alex. "What are you two looking at?" she hissed. Alex shrugged, "I... We... Uhh..." he stuttered, before Josh appeared behind him, "They were looking at my awesome clothes Lyds," he began, "You guys are pirates, right? How about you let me give you some more... pirating attire." Josh winked. "Pirating... attire... like new clothes?" Tyler raised an eyebrow, looking down at his own outfit.
They hadn't changed in weeks, Alex's main clothes was a tattered Swarm uniform, definitely not pirate-like, and he wasn't about to change back into the maid dress. Josh crossed his arms, "Of course new clothes, I'm not going to let you leave this house in rags," He rolled his eyes, "I make clothes, pretty much everyone on Kania is dressed in my stuff. I'm Josh, by the way." He stuck out his hand. Shaking it, Alex realised how strong Josh's grip was, as he secretly cradled his hand afterwards, "It's nice to meet you." He replied, smiling widely. Lydia hummed, smirking at this new information and storming off in the same direction Kira was led in.
Lucas set a tray down on the kitchen table, it seemed he had been busy making tea for the group whilst Josh was talking. "And I'll dig out some maps, I hope they can be more use to you than they are to me." Lucas laughed softly, his ears twitching gently.
Entering the garage, Kira smiled, sitting down on a small stool. "It's been years since I've been here, mew..." she sighed happily. Charlie chuckled, setting up some of his tools, "I still have some of your experiments, although a few exploded." He grinned, both of them beginning to laugh. "I wish you and Lydia would get along... It's been four years..." Charlie said, beginning to show Kira the secret process for making Protein Pills. "She won't change dad, and neither will I. Mew." Kira crossed her arms, huffing.
Bursting through the door, Lydia appeared with a huge grin on her face, "You're a pirate?" she laughed, staring daggers at Kira, "I knew you wouldn't make it as a doctor! You're such an idiot!" Kira spun around, "At least I don't have to look after stupid kids all day! I get to go exploring!" she argued back, causing Lydia to scoff, "You don't explore anything! I bet you just sit on the boat and cook or something, although you'd probably fail at that too!" Charlie's jaw tensed as he watched his two daughter's fight. "Enough!" he boomed, slamming his fist down on the desk and causing the girls to flinch, "You girls have been fighting for years now! I did not leave my job for you two to squabble all the time!" Kira gulped, taking a step back and looking up at her father, he had pain in his eyes.
"You can't quit! We won't have anything!" Jess screamed, the shattering of a plate smashing beside Charlie's head echoing around the small kitchen, "We have four children, FOUR, you didn't even see them grow up and now you want to quit!" Charlie stepped forward, clutching his wife's hands, "You have the café-" he began, "The café will never be popular!" Jess screamed back, tears rolling down her cheeks, before she hiccupped, "What did you see out there Charlie...? You had good pay... The Swarm cared for us..." she sniffled, and Charlie sighed, resting his arms on his wife's shoulders, "I'll be killed if they found out I said anything... I'm barely alive as it is..." Jess wiped her tears, looking up at Charlie. "Okay... we'll make it work..." she said. Kira ducked back behind the door, looking at her sister, who was almost in tears. "Did mew see what was on the table? It was like a vine thingy." Kira whispered. "That's not the problem right now stupid," Lydia snapped back, "let's go tell the others."
Kira snapped back to reality, it had been nine years since her father had quit his job, nobody really knew the reason why he had left, and he never mentioned it... until now. Charlie sighed, resting a hand on his forehead, "I'm sorry girls... Just please... Just for a day..." Kira looked back at Lydia, who looked just as shocked as she did. Lydia shook her head, resting a hand on her hip, "If she didn't want me to say these things, she wouldn't be a useless failure who ran away. I hope you fail Kira. And by the way... the 'mew' thing? It's not cute. It's stupid." Kira snapped, tears welling in her eyes as she ran out of the room, pushing past Lydia and going through the kitchen to run out of the front door.
