Thinking of Hei Jinyu's slowly darkening expression as she toyed with him, Qin Ruisheng couldn't help but laugh again. Unknowingly she had returned to her courtyard.

After wiping off the little water droplets around her dress, she settled down and stared at the large mountain of messy ledgers and books.

Even though the manor was not large, the amount of book keeping and ledgers she had to look through was almost a mountain tall. Just one day was not enough to settle the manors affairs.

With a sigh, she reached out, arranging the various text and books neatly on her desk. It was only after arranging everything that she realised she had forgotten some of the materials she wanted to review in the work room.

"Miss Qin, shall we prepare a warm bath for you"

Ah'Yan's spoke as she proffered a warm cup of ginger tea.

"Mhn, you two prepare the bath first, I need to run to study to pick up some books."

Qin Ruisheng stood up reaching out to take a cloak from the dresser.

"Miss Qin, let Ah'Yun do it instead. The rain is getting heavier."

Her smiling eyes landed on Ah'Yun, there was a gentle smile in it but for some reason the two girls found that they couldn't persuade her any further.

After seeing that they had understood, she stepped out. The heavy rain and thick thunderclouds made the night even darker, making the entire walkway slightly eerie, the howling winds even made one's hair stand on the edge. Qin Ruisheng was not afraid of ghosts but she definitely did not like the cold.

Hiding her hands between her sleeve, she hugged herself and walked quickly, even in the dimmed darkness with no lanterns to light the way, she was familiar with the route and even seemed to have perfect vision in the dark.

When she arrived at the work room door, just as she was about to push the doors open, her ears twitched and the smile in her eyes instantly disappeared, replaced with a serious glint flickering across her eyes.

She silently circled around to the side window. Her steps were soft and if one didn't know, they would have thought she was a trained assassin.

She leaned forward, a slender finger lifting the edge of the window slightly allowing her to peek in.

The entire room was shrouded in darkness with not a single lamp or candle lit. But to Qin Ruisheng, she could easily spot the black figure secretly looking through the things on the Hei Jinyu's table.

A smirk floated to her lips and she silently pulled out the ribbon tied around her waist.

This ribbon was not any simple silk ribbon, but was lined with leather making tough, similar to a whip.

Since she could not openly use a sword here, she had crafted this hidden weapon that she could use anytime just in case she needed to fend for herself.

She stood silently by the side window where the man had sneaked in from.

After a long while, the window moved and the man's figure slipped out. At that moment, Qin Ruisheng flicked her wrist, the whip lashed out and  struck hard on his flesh, enough to pull out some cloth and skin the moment it left.

A piercing scream resounded in the heavy night but was drowned out by the thundering rain.

The man was surprised by the sudden attack, with the searing pain on his back he scrambled up and drew the dagger at his waist, charging at his attacker with quick agility.

His moves were quick and strong, but they were not the kind used in covert operations combat.

Even though he attacked heavily without the least bit of restraint, Qin Ruisheng managed to avoid it with swiftness.
