Chapter 9: The dance

Lumine and Paimon were just standing somewhere when a guy came towards them. "Hello, can I dance with u?" The young reaches out his hand towards Lumine. "Sure." Lumine smiled. They dance on a slow number.

"What's your name?" The young man asked. "Lumine." She said. "Mason." The young man said.

They dance a little while and talk, then he says: "Oh, we have to switch partners." He switched to another, when she wanted to walk away a another young man pulled her to him and started to dance with her. "What's your name?" The young man asked. She can't just keep giving her name out.. what if somebody finds out it's her?

"Jean" Lumine said. "What's yours?" "Ajax." Wait a minute.. the ocean blue eyes.. the ginger hair.. Childe?! "Childe!?" Lumine shouted silently. His eyes widened. "Wait a minute.. Lumine!? What are you doing here?" He asked confused. Childe dragged Lumine to the side.

"What if somebody recognizes you!?" He said. "You didn't recognize me." She says crossing her arms.

"Well well. Looks like you've found my partner." A short blue-purple haired man came walking towards them. "Scaramouche?" Lumine asked. "Yep, the only one."

"You went with Scaramouche!?" Childe says shocked. Lumine shrugs "I guess." She slowly walks away.

Lumine and Scara start to dance. "Why did you invite me?" Lumine asked. "Well, everyone had a partner but I wanted one too. And I could think off you, Yae recommended it." "Seriously Yae?" Lumine thought. They dance and talk for a while. Then the ball is over and they walk outside.

"It was a real nice time Lumine, guess the other fatui have it wrong sometimes." He said. Lumine didn't know if she could really trust him, not after what he did.

Everyone had left and Lumine stand waiting outside in the cold. Paimon appears. "Didn't they say we had to stay here for a few days?" Paimon said. "I know.. but I can just take a carriage and leave." "But Lumine.. you will freeze to death if you keep staying here!" Paimon said. Suddenly a warm coat warmed Lumine. It was Childe.

"What are you doing here? You'll freeze to death." He said concerned. "I'm waiting for a carriage." She says. "Then you can wait very long, u can come with me?" He says. "Really?" She asked. "Ofcourse!" He said with a smile. "Then i get to see Teucer again!" She said, his smile disappears.

They arrive at Childe's.

"Welcome inside!" He said joyfully. Paimon appears. "Wow! It's so big!" She says. Lumine looks around and sees paintings of his siblings.

"I'll go prepare the guest room." He said walking upstairs. "I never expected to be here some day." Lumine says. "Paimon neither, it's very nice of him to take us in. But it's pretty strange too, we haven't seen him in two years and he just invites us in?" Lumine realizes what Paimon just had said.

"Why would he take us in like that?" She asked herself. "The only thing I know is that I can't stay here for long." They wait for Childe to come back. They sit on the couch by the fireplace, Lumine is still covered by his coat. Childe walks in and hands Lumine some clean clothing.

"I just went by the clothing store, hope you didn't notice." Paimon spits out her tea she got. "Just now!?" She shouted. Childe smiles and hands Lumine a coat. "Here, this coat is just for you." It was warm and fuzzy, but still.. Lumine feels a bit uncomfortable. "I'll.. just get something ready." He said walking to the other side of the house.

Lumine changes her clothes, she looks at Paimon. "I don't know Paimon.." Lumine said. "I like it!" Paimon said. Lumine sits back in her chair snuggling in her coat. Her eyes feel really tired. "Lumine! It's not a good time to sleep now!" Paimon says. "Just.. 2 minutes.." Lumine fell asleep snuggled in the coat, Paimon lays next to her.

"I'm bac-" He looks at Lumine and Paimon. He smiles. He stares at Lumine for a while, and then looks at Paimon. Paimon has her eyes wide opened and holds Lumine tightly.

"Paimon knows what you're about to do! But it's not gonna work!" Paimon says. Childe stares at Paimon weirdly. "C'mon don't just stare at me! I know you're jealous! I'm gonna give you a nickname you- you- you ginger!" Paimon shouted while flying towards him. "Relax! She's not gonna leave you I swear!" Paimon crosses her arms.

"How about something nice to eat?" Paimon's eyes lit up. "Yes yes! Paimon won't say no to that!" She licks her lips. "Did you say no? Oh too bad, I wanted to make something delicious!" Paimon stomps in the air. "I said yes you ginger!" Paimon shouts.

Childe starts to laugh, then he goes off to the kitchen. Lumine groans. "Stop shouting Paimon.." she slowly opens her eyes. "I'm sorry, but that stupid ginger needs some hearing aids!" Paimon sticks out her tongue at Childe.

Lumine doesn't feel that well, she reaches out her hand to her head, and it burning hot! "Agh.. my head.." she groans. Then they hear something running downstairs. "The nice lady!" Teucer jumped into Lumine's arms. "Hey Teucer." Lumine says weakly. Then Teucer jumps back. "Ouch! Ur burning!" Teucer shouts.

Then Childe walks in with the food. "Dinner!" He shouts. Two other kids come running downstairs and sit at the table. Childe offers Lumine a hand but she walks past him, she sits at the dinner table, she hangs her coat over the chair. "Hello! I'm Tonia, and these are my little brothers Anthon and Teucer!" Tonia says. "Hi, im Lumine." Lumine smiles. "Woww, ur pretty! Are you going to marry my brother?" Anthon says.

Both Lumine and Childe turn red, Lumine just a little, but Childe entirely. "Anthon!" Tonia says. "It's okay, he's just a kid." Lumine says. "Yeah, I wonder where he got that idea from huh?" Paimon looks at Childe. Childe tries to talk over it. "Anyways, who wants some food?"
