The towering trees of the Olympic Peninsula parted to reveal the estate Jasmine had purchased, and the group collectively stared, their mouths hanging open in sheer disbelief. Jasmine had insisted on keeping the property a surprise, refusing to share even a single detail during their long journey from London to Washington.
When Draco had tried to peek at the magical deed earlier, a single, icy glare from Jasmine had made the entire Malfoy family flinch. Her anger was a rare, terrifying thing; they had all witnessed her fury during the war, but a quiet, calculating Jasmine was infinitely scarcer. Hermione had warned them all in whispered tones to leave the girl alone, reminding them of the time an overeager Ministry official had pushed Jasmine too far. The memory of her smiling sweetly while caressing a bouquet of blooming, dangerously venomous magical flowers was enough to keep everyone in line. They made a collective, silent vow to never test her patience again.
Once the initial shock of their grand new home wore off, the family split up to tackle the next challenge: blending in. The Pacific Northwest required a drastically different wardrobe than the wizarding robes of Great Britain. Armed with muggle currency and a healthy dose of curiosity, they set off in separate groups to explore the local shops in Port Angeles, leaving Jasmine behind to organize the kitchen.
Jasmine didn't mind the solitude. Cooking had long since ceased to be a chore imposed upon her by the Dursleys; instead, under the guidance of Molly Weasley, it had transformed into a therapeutic ritual. Knowing the sheer volume of food a pack of hungry wizards could consume after a long day of shopping, she set to work stocking the massive double-door freezer with local meats and lining the refrigerator shelves with fresh drinks.
An hour later, the front door swung open with a heavy thud.
"Blimey, who knew women and their shopping skills could be so terrifying?" Ron shuddered, struggling past the threshold.
Behind him, Fred, George, Neville, Draco, Lucius, and Severus were practically buried under a mountain of glossy shopping bags. The men trudged up the grand staircase to drop the purchases in their respective rooms, only to be drawn back down by a rich, divine aroma drifting from the kitchen. They followed the scent into the dining room, where Narcissa, Hermione, and Luna were already standing in stunned silence.
The long wooden table was practically groaning under the weight of the feast.

"I wasn't entirely sure what everyone would be in the mood for," Jasmine said, wiping her hands on a dish towel and smiling sheepishly. "So I put together a few simple, hearty dishes that could be served quickly. I had a feeling shopping in the muggle world would tire you all out, and I couldn't let you sleep on an empty stomach."
"Oh, that is incredibly thoughtful of you, dear. Thank you," Narcissa said, her voice warm as she stepped forward to take a seat.
Lucius cleared his throat, his posture stiff but remarkably stripped of his usual cold facade. He looked around the room, his eyes lingering on his wife and son before he spoke. "Yes, what my wife says is true. And... while we are gathered, there is something I must say."
The room fell quiet. The casual clinking of silverware stopped.
"I wanted to apologize," Lucius said, his voice carrying a raw, heavy sincerity that none of them had ever heard from him before. "My intentions in the past were entirely wrong. I claimed I wanted to protect my family, but instead, I brought ruin and pain to those I love most. I am deeply, profoundly sorry. To all of you, but especially to you, Narcissa, and to you, Draco."
Lucius swallowed hard, looking down at his hands. "Narcissa, if you wish for a divorce, I will grant it. I will not stand in the way of your peace, though I love you still. And Draco, if you choose to go with your mother—"
Smack.
The sound of Narcissa's hand meeting Lucius's cheek echoed sharply through the room. Lucius blinked, stunned, his hand rising slowly to his face.
"Don't you dare," Narcissa whispered, tears spilling over her eyelashes. "Do not dare suggest such a thing now. I have forgiven you for the choices you made under the shadow of fear, Lucius. But you must learn to forgive yourself before you can truly accept our forgiveness. Draco and I love you, and we are not going anywhere."
Lucius looked around the room, his chest heaving. One by one, the gathered witches and wizards nodded. There was no lingering hatred in their eyes—only the shared, tired understanding of people who had survived a war and wanted nothing more than to leave the darkness behind.
Overwhelmed, the proud patriarch of the Malfoy family finally broke. He sank slightly, only to be instantly enveloped in a tight, fierce embrace by Draco and Narcissa. The family held onto each other for a long moment, the silent tears eventually giving way to watery, relieved laughter at their own display of emotion.
"Excellent!" Ron broke the silence, rubbing his hands together. "So... can we eat now?"
"RON!" Hermione and Jasmine scolded in perfect unison.
"What? What did I do?!" Ron protested, looking genuinely baffled.
The tension in the room dissolved instantly into a wave of hearty laughter. Hermione and Jasmine shook their heads, fond smiles playing on their lips as they finally sat down. Under the soft, warm lights of their new home in Forks, the family began to eat, the shadows of their past finally beginning to fade.
