CHAPTER 8

First Night Together

         I WILL never forget about the kiss, not just because it was damn great but because that was our first kiss after eleven years since we got married.

It's hard to forget something great, wife. That kissed is so memorable for me.

His words kept on replaying in my mind like a broken disc. Huminga ako ng malalim sabay pikit. I shook my head to erase the bubbles of his voice in my head.

"Bakit kasi kailangan niya pa sabihin 'yon?" I murmured as I walked towards the hallway of the hospital. Naglalakad ako papunta sa pediatric ward para magrounds habang bitbit ang kapeng binili ko sa coffee shop nang makasalubong ko si Dale. I quickly smiled when I saw him.

"Doc! Good morning." I greeted him.

Ngumiti siya nang makita ako. "Hi, good morning, dra. Nagkape kana pala. I won't invite you any more to have coffee with me,"

I let out a chortle. "I still can have dessert naman,"

Natawa siya ng mahina. "I'm just joking. Mamayang lunch na lang, dra. I brought my lunch today."

"Great! Share tayo ng baon just like before when we were both fellows!" My tone perked up.

Sabay kaming naging fellow ni Dale dito sa Areno Medical Center. Mas matanda lang siya sa'kin ng isang taon at isa siya sa mga pinakamatalinong scholar ng foundation namin.

He smiled. "I remember those days, Maui." My eyes slightly widen when he called me by my second name. "Later dra," He stopped at the entrance of the A&E ward or accident and emergency.

I nod. "Sure. I'll go ahead na." We smiled at each other tapos nilagpasan ko na siya.

When I entered the pediatric ward, I saw those toddlers and children who got admitted to the hospital because of different conditions. Ngumiti ako sa kanila at kinumusta sila isa-isa while doing my daily check up on them.

THE next days were just similar set-up. I would wake up in the morning by Reeve. We will eat breakfast together then he will hand me my lunch and snacks that he prepared. After ko umalis ay doon pa lang siya aalis ng bahay. Sa gabi naman, he comes home early while I always get home late, so it's surprising that he's not here yet.

Mas nauna akong umuwi sa kanya ngayon. I checked my phone to see if he texted or called me, but he didn't. Maybe he's busy at his restaurant.

Mag-a-alas nuwebe y medya na kaya kumain na ako mag-isa. I cooked spaghetti meatballs with mozzarella cheese. Nasanay akong kumain na kasabay si Reeve kaya ngayon na wala siya, I suddenly felt lonely while eating.

Pagkatapos kong kumain ay niligpit ko na ang mga pinagkainan ko para mahugasan na. I just put the extra spaghetti I cooked inside the fridge. Then, I went up to my room to take a night's shower and do my skincare routine. 

After I took a shower, I applied a sheet face mask. I took my laptop and searched for my favorite Medical drama: The good doctor. I clicked Season 5, episode 7. While watching, I started applying my favorite lotion from Bath & body works, the Moonlight Path.

I was putting lotion on my legs while my eyes were fixed on the laptop screen when the door opened. Napalingon kaagad ako doon at bahagyang nagulat nang makita si Reeve. My heart went frenzy when our eyes met.

He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt tucked into his dark grey slacks and Hermes belt. On his feet is a leather Oxford shoes. As usual, his hair was neat since his haircut was faded Army cut.
