Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Alpha Min Yoongi

Jimin's alpha is Min Yoongi, an alpha with a notorious reputation.

Jimin tried his best not to cry out loud as his mother rushed to his side while his father stepped away to call the information hotline and confirm the news.

"MA! You said nothing terrible would happen?! Then what is this? Why was I matched with Min Yoongi?", Jimin sobbed.

"Shhhh... baby, don't cry. Papa will sort this out.", the omega said as she did her best to pacify her son.

However, Saeho came back with a forlorn look.

"I'm sorry, Jimin-ah. But the person I talked to said that it was not a mistake. Min Yoongi was indeed returned to the matching pool three years after his divorce. He is your alpha, and we can expect a call from his lawyer soon to arrange your marriage. Apparently, Min Yoongi no longer wants any more fuss and just wants this done and over with as soon as possible. We have to prepare your things immediately."

Jimin cried harder, no longer concerned if their neighbors heard his wails. Min Yoongi. Out of all the alphas in Korea, he was paired with Min Yoongi. What did he do in his past life to deserve this fate?

Min Yoongi is a famous businessman and philanthropist. A son of a poor farmer in Daegu, the alpha worked hard to send himself to Engineering school. On his last year, his thesis on using water to cultivate plants, a process he called Hydroponics, won the award for best thesis. His study was picked up by a private company, KLM Technologies, who funded his research. After perfecting his invention, he sold the patent to KLM Tech for a huge amount of money, including royalties for each unit sold. His invention became popular with neighboring countries that he instantly became rich. He used the money he made from his initial business venture to continue his own independent research and he has since then put up his own company, Suga Industries, and produced better systems that tremendously helped the farmers in Daegu and eventually, all of Korea. In time, his reputation exceeded him, and he now has his own international clients, making him one of the richest men in Korea. He truly is a phenomenon.

However, that is not the only reason why everyone knows Min Yoongi.

Five years ago, the alpha figured in a scandal that shocked the whole of Korea.

Min Yoongi, by the time he turned 28, was matched with 23-year-old socialite, omega Kim Yong Mi, daughter of a business mogul. The whole nation rejoiced when their union was announced as everyone deemed them a perfect match. Both extremely intelligent, good-looking, and rich, the whole world waited with bated breath for them to produce heirs. However, instead of having a lovely marriage and beautiful children, the couple's union ended up in disaster.

After only less than a year of marriage, Kim Yong Mi shockingly filed for a divorce. It was a messy and very public one as the omega accused Min Yoongi of domestic abuse, citing his control issues along with the harsh punishments she endured. She tried to have their pre-nuptial agreement voided so that she could walk away with half of Yoongi's assets, which she explicitly declared she deserved after suffering from the hands of the alpha. Min Yoongi never talked in public and just let his lawyers do what they were paid to do.

The divorce was the talk of the town for months. The news was filled with updates on court proceedings, and the paparazzi hounded the two everywhere they went. But just as the legal battle was about to conclude, there was suddenly a news blackout. Nobody knew the final verdict and what happened to Min Yoongi as he seemingly disappeared from the face of the earth. The alpha's lawyers just informed the public that it's all over and that Min Yoongi has decided to go on a Sabbatical with no definite timeline on his return. Kim Yong Mi's camp was also unusually silent, and there was no news about her until 1 year later, when it was announced that she was matched again, this time with a famous actor. At least it was clear that the divorce pushed through.

The question now is, where was Min Yoongi before he resurfaced one year ago?

Was the alpha in jail all that time?

"Hyung... I can't believe this is happening. Alpha wants us to get married this weekend already, and I'm supposed to just go home with him after. He doesn't even want a pre-meeting before that to get to know me and discuss our arrangement. His lawyer said we can just sign the pre-nup on the day of our wedding. As in minutes before getting married! Who does that?"

Jimin whisper yelled at Seokjin, not wanting Namjoon, who's currently doing remote work at the bakery, to hear him complain about his life.

Seokjin nodded his head in sympathy before calling out to his husband.

"Alpha, what do you know about Alpha Min Yoongi?"

Jimin tried to shush his friend but was too late.

"Omega, what did I tell you about gossiping?", the alpha answered, not even bothering to look up from his work. Seokjin rolled his eyes, knowing the other could not see him.

"We're not gossiping, Alpha. We're merely gathering information. You see, my chickie here got matched with him so we have to know all about him. You know, the kind of stuff that cannot be searched on Naver. I don't want to send Jimin into the lion's den without arming him with the necessary protection and weapons."

That caught the alpha's attention. He looked up from his work to briefly stare at Jimin, making the omega shrink on the bar stool he's sitting on, before resuming his work.

"I don't have any personal encounter with him, but he has several accounts with my colleague. That colleague obviously has signed an NDA with him, but without divulging sensitive information, he has commented in passing that the amount of money that Min Yoongi has on his accounts has never been touched after the divorce. I guess we can insinuate from that what happened to their case.", the alpha quietly shared.

"Oooh, that can only mean good things, right? It meant he won and that the abuse allegations were proven to be false! That's probably the reason why he was returned to the matching program. He's innocent!", Seokjin proclaimed, trying to get Jimin's hopes up.

"Or... he has just good lawyers.", Jimin answered timidly.

"Alpha...", Seokjin whined. "Tell Jimin I'm correct. He has nothing to worry about."

"Omega.", Namjoon growled. "Distract me from my work one more time, and you're going over my knees once we get home."

"I'm sorry, Alpha.", Seokjin pouted. Jimin also carefully apologized to the alpha. Namjoon sighed and looked at the two omegas properly.

"Like I said, I don't know him personally, but I've only heard good things about him from my colleague. Apparently, he's aloof and cold and keeps things private. But he's never rude, does not look down on anyone, and always keeps his word; a professional through and through. He says that Min Yoongi is sincere in helping the farmers produce better crops from his inventions. He only wants the best for them. Take what you want from that information.", the alpha finished his spiel and focused back on his work, indicating that the conversation was now over.

Seokjin beamed at what his husband said and looked at Jimin smugly. "See? I'm correct!"

Jimin quietly thanked the alpha for his input and Seokjin for all his help. He went home a bit confused but now more optimistic in his situation. If he's lucky, then maybe his friend is right, and he's getting worked up over nothing.
