In the days following the revelation, Soichiro struggled to reconcile with the truth. His son, the brilliant, kind-hearted Light, was Kira, the God of the New World. He watched as Light dictated life and death with the God Note, his heart aching with sorrow and confusion. One night, unable to bear the torment any longer, Soichiro made his decision. He walked into Light's office, his mind swirling with a desperate plan. Light was out, meeting with Dove, providing Soichiro the opportunity he needed.
His hands trembled as he picked up the God Note. He knew he didn't have much time. He opened it to a blank page, his heart pounding in his chest.
'L. Returns to life, healthy, with all previous memories intact,' he wrote, his handwriting shaky but legible.
Just as he finished writing, Light walked into the room. His eyes widened in shock as he saw his father with the God Note. "Father! What are you doing?"
Soichiro turned to his son, his eyes filled with sadness and determination. "I'm sorry, Light," he said, his voice trembling. "But this... this is wrong."
Light moved swiftly, pulling out the gun he had brought from the warehouse confrontation. His face was a mask of fury as he fired, his father's body jerking with each shot.
Soichiro fell, the life draining from his eyes. But there was a strange peace on his face, a final defiance against his son's tyranny.
Light rushed to the God Note, his heart pounding. His eyes scanned the last written command, and he froze. His face drained of color as he read the name written in his father's handwriting: 'L'.
"No..." he whispered, his voice barely audible. He fell back into his chair, his mind racing. L was back, his greatest adversary, his biggest challenge. And it was his father who had brought him back.
Ryuk, watching from the shadows, couldn't help but laugh. "Well, this is interesting, Light," he said, a gleeful smile on his face. "Things are about to get very exciting."
As Light sat in shock, the reality of his situation sinking in, he knew one thing for certain. The game had changed. And he was about to face his most formidable opponent once again.
In a secluded cemetery, under a moonless sky, a lone figure stood before two gravestones. Dressed in his signature white shirt and jeans, the man looked the same as he had years ago. His black hair was unkempt, his eyes were heavy with dark circles, and his fingers were constantly moving, a quirky habit that was unmistakably his.
L, the world's greatest detective, was back from the dead.
He stood before the graves of Near and Mello, his successors, his students. His eyes were somber as he read the inscriptions on the gravestones. 'Nate River' and 'Mihael Keehl', their real names, were etched in stone, their lives cut short in the pursuit of justice.
L bent down, placing a hand on each gravestone. He remembered them as children, their curiosity and intelligence reminding him of himself. They had taken on his mantle, fought his battle, and had paid the ultimate price.
"I failed you," he murmured, his voice barely a whisper. "I wasn't there to guide you, to protect you."
He stood up, his gaze fixed on the moonless sky. "But I'm here now," he said, determination creeping into his voice. "I will finish what we started. I will stop Kira."
As L made his vow, a sense of purpose filled him. He knew the task ahead of him was monumental. Kira was more powerful than ever, wielding the God Note with impunity. But L had always thrived in adversity, and this was no different.
Walking away from the graves, L felt a strange sense of peace. He was back where he belonged, back in the game. The stakes were higher, the challenges greater, but the goal was the same: to bring Kira to justice.
Behind him, the gravestones of Near and Mello stood as silent reminders of the cost of their quest. But they also served as a beacon, a guiding light towards justice. And L was ready to follow that light, no matter where it led him.
