Days turned into weeks, and weeks into a month. Mello's solitude continued, his inner conflict deepening. However, the solitude eventually led to a revelation. He came to the realization that he needed to play his part in this game, but not on Kira's side.

Mello picked up the phone, dialing the number he had memorized long ago. The voice on the other end was surprised, but not unwelcoming. "L," Mello began, his voice steady, "I want to come back."

L was silent for a moment, then simply replied, "We'll be waiting."

Mello ended the call and set out for L's secret base. However, his intentions were far from honest. He had a plan, a plan that would put him right in the middle of the game, a plan that would change everything.

Mello snuck into the base, his steps quiet, his movements swift. He found the piece of the God Note that Dove had stolen and pocketed it. He then went on to plant bugs in every corner of the base, ensuring that Kira would have ears inside L's operations.

Once his mission was complete, Mello made his way out of the base, his heart pounding in his chest. He had just betrayed the team, the people who trusted him, the people who were like family to him. But he knew this was the only way.

Mello called Light, letting him know about the bugs. "It's done, Kira," he said, his voice cold, "you now have eyes and ears inside L's base."

Light's response was a low chuckle, filled with satisfaction. "Well done, Mello," he said, "you've done well."

Mello ended the call, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. He had just crossed a line, a line there was no coming back from. He was now playing both sides, a double agent in the game of life and death. And only time would tell which side he would truly choose in the end.

In the heart of their secret base, L and Near huddled around a table, a map spread out before them. They were planning their final move, their grand gambit to end Kira's reign once and for all.

"The key is to catch Kira off guard," L began, his finger tracing a path on the map. "We need to lure him into a trap, and then strike."

Near nodded, his gaze never leaving the map. "And we have just the bait. The piece of the God Note. Kira will want it back."

But unbeknownst to them, their conversation was being relayed to Kira, thanks to the bugs Mello had planted. Light sat in his room, a satisfied smile on his face as he listened to their plan unfold.

"So, they want to use the God Note as bait," Light murmured to himself. "Interesting."

In that moment, Light realized that he was several steps ahead. He knew their plan, he had Mello on his side, and he had the power of the God Note. L and Near had just played into his hands.

With a chuckle, Light began to plan his countermove. It was time to turn the tables on L and Near, to show them the true power of Kira. The game was reaching its climax, and Light was ready to make his winning move.

Their plan was set in motion, a deadly trap laid out for Kira. But little did they know, the predator was already aware of the trap. The hunt was on, and the prey had become the hunter.
