Mello looked at the phone, the number on the caller ID was unfamiliar but the voice on the other end was unmistakable.

"L wants to meet me?" Mello said, disbelief dripping from his words. He knew L was smart, but to directly call him for a meeting? This was either a brilliant strategy or a desperate move.

He considered the possibility of a trap. But then, he had always been one to enjoy a good game. He decided to go along with it, a smirk tugging at his lips. He grabbed a gun, tucking it into his coat before heading out. It was going to be an interesting night.

He arrived at the designated location, a deserted alleyway. The area was bathed in darkness, the only light coming from a dim streetlamp. He waited, his hand gripping the gun inside his coat.

Footsteps echoed in the alleyway, L emerged from the shadows. His face was as impassive as ever, his eyes shrouded with mystery.

"Mello," L acknowledged, his voice a mere whisper in the silence of the night.

"L," Mello greeted in return, his eyes wary and alert. He was ready for anything, ready to play his part in this deadly game.

As they stood there, facing each other, the tension was palpable. L had made his move, now it was Mello's turn. The game was on, and only time would tell who would emerge victorious.

L started, his voice steady, "Mello, do you remember our time at Wammy's House?"

Mello's eyes narrowed slightly, "What does that have to do with anything?"

L continued, ignoring Mello's interruption, "We were rivals then, always trying to outdo each other. Yet, despite our differences, we had a common goal – the pursuit of justice."

Mello scoffed, "Justice? Is that what you call what you're doing now?"

L sighed, "Mello, you're not a monster. You're not Kira. You're a brilliant investigator who lost his way. You can still choose a different path."

Mello's expression hardened. "You don't get it, do you, L? I chose this path. I'm not lost. This... Kira... he is justice. The world is safer, quieter. Isn't that what we wanted?"

"We wanted justice, yes. But not at the cost of innocent lives. Not through fear," L replied earnestly.

The conversation went on, two old friends debating the morality of their choices, the weight of their actions heavy in the air. The night grew darker, the tension between them never easing.

Meanwhile, Aria waited patiently at Misa's house. She had a plan, she had a part to play in this game too. And she intended to play it well. The final battle was just beginning.

Aria had been waiting patiently in the shadows of Misa's home. As soon as she heard the sound of the front door opening and closing, she sprang into action. She had one chance to get this right.

With swift and quiet steps, she crept up behind Misa, who was still oblivious to her presence. She struck a swift blow to the back of Misa's head, rendering her unconscious.

With an adrenaline-fueled strength, Aria moved quickly to tie Misa up securely, making sure she wouldn't be able to escape or call for help. She breathed a sigh of relief. The first part of their plan had been a success. Now, she had to wait for L to do his part.

Aria sat across from Misa, a cold smile on her face as she scoffed at Misa's beliefs. "God and justice, huh? Is that what you think Kira is? A god bringing justice?"

Misa, despite being tied up and at Aria's mercy, laughed. "You're the one who's trapped, not me," she said confidently. "Teru has been tracking you. They'll be here any moment now."
