Law swore he only closed his eyes for one minute and it was already the first day of school. How did that happen?

He slowly got out of bed, trying to make as minimal noise as possible. That's the third thing he learned while living with Doffy. Stealth. When Law was little, he used to call it being a ninja. He learned that if you could hear yourself, chances are others could hear you too.

He made it to his closed door and put his ear up against it. No sound. Doflamingo must have went into the office early.

Taking a few deep breaths, he opened his door and went to the kitchen. Perfect. He was gone. Law had the house to himself. 

It wasn't often that he had the house to himself so when he had the chance he took a shower, ate a big breakfast, pack a lunch and grabbed some money for the bus. Because he lived with Doflamingo, his needs were often pushed away or labeled as "not important". So usually in the mornings Law would get out of bed and go into the kitchen to see that Doflamingo made breakfast for himself, and himself only. Or, would shut off the hot water when he was done with it, not caring if Law was in need of it or not. Not leaving money for bus tickets and not leaving the car keys making Law walk a good fourty-five minutes to school.

Law, by the way, grabbed the bus money from his savings. Law has a total savings of $10,000. He's been saving since he was six and he's been saving for university. Drum Island University. The ultimate medical school! All the best doctors went there! Dr. Kureha, Dr. Tony Chopper, and Law's father. He's dreamed of going there since forever.

His money is saved underneath a floorboard in his bedroom. Stashed away in a large Mason Jar, with paper taped around it so Doflamingo never finds it. He's been very careful not to let anybody notice it. If anyone notices, let alone Doflamingo, that's it. The end of the line. No second chances. Anybody finds out then it will all lead back to Doffy. Then he will never escape this life.

Law checked his schedule on his phone.

First period - Physical Education 9:00 to 10:20

Second period - Advanced Functions (Math) 10:20 to 11:40

Lunch 11:40 - 12:40

Third period - English 12:40 to 1:55

Fourth Period - Computer and Information Science 2:00 to 3:15

Hm. Not that bad for semester one. Law naturally always did well in school. Scoring high grades with minimal effort. he was just that type of guy. He did put in some effort though. He wasn't those types of guys that did absolutely nothing and got 100%.

He walked into the school ten minutes early and decided to walk to his class. As he was going up the stairs, this girl with a straw-hat sat in a corner balling her eyes out. He sat in the corner next to where the second floor doors were.

Huh, this isn't how first days usually go... Law wondered, while unconsciously kneeling down in front of her.

How'd I get down here? It was like Law's body was demanding to comfort this girl.

The straw-hat kid didn't even look up when Law kneeled in front of her. Too blinded by the tears in her eyes.

As the crying never stopped, Law decided to help her, "Excuse me?" he pulled her out of her trance.

Straw-hat's head snapped up so quick Law thought he heard a crack. Law flinched and backed away in surprise.

"W... What do you want?" she called out to Law. "I just wanted to see if you were okay" Law recovered quickly, putting a hand behind his neck.

"What makes you think I'd be okay?" she answered back quickly and angrily.

Good question. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you mad." Law's voice was shaking and he averted his eyes to look at the floor.

Good going Law, now she's gonna hurt you.

She looked back at Law, who was cowering in fear, eyes to the floor, hands over his face. Wait. He thinks I'm gonna hurt him!

Straw-hat kid sighed in guilt, "I'm the one who should be sorry. I shouldn't have snapped at you when you just wanted to help me." She held her hand out for Law to shake, "My name is Monkey D. Luffy." Law raised his head out of his hands and looked at Luffy.

Luffy. Her name is Luffy.

Law hesitantly took her hand, "Trafalgar D. Water Law. Nice to meet you Luffy-ya."

Luffy laughed and wiped her eyes. "Heh, I guess the first day wasn't too bad. I made a new friend!"

Friend? I've never had a friend before!

But wait. Doflamingo knows everything. He'll find out about Luffy having a connection to me and hurt her! I cannot let Luffy face that.

"No. I'm sorry but I cannot be your friend Luffy-ya." It hurt Law to say this. It really did. The one person that actually wants to be friends with Law... can't be friends with Law. That hurt. But, this was for Luffy's safety.

"Why not?"

Quick! Make an excuse!

"You don't want to be friends with me Luffy-ya. Please be friends with someone else." Law ducked his head down in guilt.

"NO!" Luffy yelled, making Law snap his head back up.

"I refuse your refusal!" (A/n: remembering Luffy saying this to Sanji lmao).

Law just gapped like a fish at him. What?!

Luffy just smiled her average smile, "I won't give up until I become your friend Torao!"

She even made a nickname for me...

"Fine. Good luck then Luffy-ya." He turned away and walked up the stairs.

Luffy just grinned, "Thanks Torao!"
