A/n: Sorry I made you all wait so long, school has been very busy and my old lady French teacher has been giving me lots of homework. It's been a drag. Anyways, onto the story! (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞

Luffy was outside sitting on a bench, eating her lunch. Law always knew where to find Luffy so it didn't take him a long time to figure out where she was.

As Law approached her, Luffy perked up. "Hey." She said plainly. Emotionless face displayed.

"Hey."

There was an awkward pause before Law took a deep breath. He was about to say something before Luffy interrupted him.

"I'm sorry I pushed you." She interjected looking down at her red converses. This surprised Law and he raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sorry too Luffy." He answered quietly and sat down beside her. He watched the other students' interactions like talk with their friends by the trees and play catch with a volleyball.

"What for? You didn't do anything wrong Torao." Luffy looked at him trying to keep a serious face. She looked very disappointed.

"Yes, I did. I wasn't honest. But..." she took a breath. "I can't tell you what's going on. All I can tell you is that I can't go on a date with you. I'm sorry Luffy. We can't be friends and we can't date. I'm so sorry." He somewhat professed as he looked at her helplessly. Oh how he wanted to tell her the truth and kiss that sunshine of a doofus.

Luffy looked at him and then down at her shoes again. "You don't have to make up lies just to reject me. It's okay, I understand. You don't want me. It's okay Law, I wouldn't want me either." She smiled at him kindly and then averted her gaze away from him.

Law stood up shocked to the core and then knelt down in front of her, trying to maintain eye contact.

"Luffy, wait, that's not-" Law tried to reassure her in the direction he was hoping for.

Luffy held a hand up, "Please leave Law. You made it clear that you don't want to be around me and that I was wrong. Go since you don't wanna be my friend."

Law's lips trembled and his eyes watered. No... this wasn't how it was supposed to go. He thought to himself as his heart broke piece by piece. No! Please don't push me away. I'm sorry. This is for your own good. I'm so sorry.

Law stood up on his shaking legs and walked away. He turned back to look at Luffy but she was already gone from her spot on the bench. Law cursed himself a million times. He cursed his life, how he couldn't ever be free, how he broke an innocent person's heart because he wanted to keep her safe. He hated himself too. But, he decided that this was best for the both of them. She will be safe this way. She won't be mixed up in this mess.

. . . . . ╰──╮𝓉𝒾𝓂𝑒 𝓈𝓀𝒾𝓅╭──╯ . . . . .

Day by day it was getting worse for the both of them. Luffy doesn't sleep in Law's room anymore, she moved to the couch in the living room. Luffy doesn't talk to Law anymore. She doesn't even bat an eyelash at him.

Every time Law entered a room Luffy left. Except for the classes they shared. But it was only third period - English.

As for the elder, Law was feeling very lonely. He's been lonely pretty much all his life, yeah, but this felt worse. His heart broke every time he saw Luffy and he felt like crying every time he saw Luffy's absence in his room or even around his house.

Nothing clicked like before. How they would always manage to have comfortable silence or how they could make conversation so naturally, or how they never got bored of each other no matter what. They used to do everything together and now that's all gone away.

One day, when both of the boys were awkwardly watching tv together, Law heard the door unlocking.

Wait...

This couldn't be... could it?

Law started to panic. IT WAS. Law quickly shut off the tv and yanked on Luffy's arm dragging her into his bedroom. He opened up his closet ignoring Luffy's complaints.

"Law what-" Luffy soon got interrupted by Law. "No time to explain, just please hide in here until I come and get you."

He shut the closet door and ran out of his bedroom closing the door behind him. He tried to clean up the living room and kitchen the best he could putting the dishes in the sink and putting the pillows back in place as well as the tv remote on the table.

When Doflamingo came in though the doorway, he smiled his usual evil smile at him. Law stood there trying to seem all innocent. Hands by his sides, no slouching, unemotional face. He was trying his hardest not to give any clues or details about how there was a teenage girl in his closet who was also very mad and confused at him.

"Law," Doflamingo greeted him as he sat his briefcase down on the kitchen table. "Sorry I came back early, I was just so worried about you. I wanted to come back early to make sure you weren't causing any trouble."

Law panicked at that emphasis at the end of his sentence but tried to remain calm. "Well, you didn't have anything to worry about, everything's going okay. Do you want me to make you some dinner?"

Good Law, Good. Keep acting innocent.

Doflamingo walked closer to Law until their chests were almost touching. "I don't believe you." He cowered above him, ignoring Law's offer of making him dinner.

Law stayed quiet, not knowing how to respond to that.

Doffy kept walking closer to him as Law kept backing away. That was until Law's back hit a wall opposite to the door.

He gasped knowing he was cornered. No room to escape as Doflamingo trapped him with his arms.

"Let's try this again. I know when you're hiding something." The so-called caretaker insisted, knowing that he would win this fight.

Law didn't respond. He knew that there was no point. Doflamingo would find one way or another to find a reason to beat Law up.

He punched him in the gut and pounded his back. Law, who fell onto the ground after the attack, tried not to let out any noises by putting a hand in his mouth. He was in a fetal position trying to protect himself from any hits or kicks that the older man would give him.

Doflamingo circled him laughing at Law's painful groans. He kicked him in the face making Law's nose bleed all over his shoe. Not good.

"Ugh, you got your disgusting blood all over my shoe! Weakling! Useless! I know you're hiding something from me and I will beat it out of you if I have to." He barked, kicking him in the back.

𝓜𝓮𝓪𝓷𝔀𝓱𝓲𝓵𝓮...

Luffy was still in the closet, on the ground in a corner. She had a hand over her mouth and was wide-eyed.

The walls were thin enough that Luffy was able to listen to what was going on outside of Law's room.

And boy did she wish she couldn't hear at all...

She could hear every groan and yelp that Law made in response to the physical abuse that the man had done to him.

It made her want to cry. She didn't know that this was what Torao had to deal with. She felt so bad now. This must've been why Law couldn't be her friend or couldn't date. This is why he shrunk away to make himself smaller when people yelled at him or why he says sorry a lot.

It felt like with every kick that Law felt, Luffy felt too.

She kept quiet until the kicking stopped and she heard a door close. She waited a few seconds before running out of the room...

A/n: In response to me not updating for a while, I made a long chapter. Hope you like it, I tried to make some sort of a cliffhanger at the end. To the people who guessed that Doffy was coming back early, well done. That was in my planning since before I actually started writing this. See you hopefully next weekend!
