(Y/N)'s POV

"T-that's...no that's not-" I stammered as Zeus grinned at me, "You said you were willing to do anything." He said, snapping me out of my momentary shock. "That wasn't part of the deal! Monsters only!" I shouted. "One hundred monsters returned to Tartarus. That was the deal!"

"Yes, it was, and that has come to pass, this is your punishment, for your actions against Olympus despite prior warnings. You must be the one to strike him down, to prove yourself loyal." I was still in shock, "But I've never- I would never-"

He spoke over me "-And that is why it is your last trial. Your most difficult challenge, to put your own needs behind the needs of Olympus, the final lesson you need to learn if you are to repent for your actions." He explained, but that made no sense to me. "Lesson? What lesson. I'm not murdering my friend!"

"If you prove yourself willing to protect Olympus. If you remain truly loyal to your mother. Then you will complete this task. If you learn your place, then all shall be forgiven." He said coldly, like a harsh wind. "Percy Jackson is a threat to Olympus. As the king of the gods, I cannot sit idly by while he brings it to its knees."

"A threat? He's not a threat! He can barely swing a sword!" I said as my confusion boiled down into anger, this was ridiculous. "He's not the lightning thief, Ares is the one you should be attacking!"

"This is no longer about my master bolt. My reasoning is beyond your understanding, and I am not at the liberty to discuss it with a mortal." He said the last word like it was an insult.

"He hasn't done anything wrong!" I argued, "But he will. It is pre-written!" He shouted. "The hero's soul, cursed blade shall reap. A single choice shall end his days. Olympus to preserve or raze." He quoted from somewhere or other.

He continued. "The choice has been made. This is what you must do. Why do you think I set you on this course child?" He grasped my wrist and held my bracers, my heart dropped. "A cursed blade..." I said in disbelief.

"This was always where your path was headed, it is why I set you against these countless monsters and dangers in your trials, to steel your heart for when the time comes." Zeus said.

"It is your duty to Olympus to stop the passing of the great prophecy. I am not doing this out of cruelty (Y/N), I'm doing it out of necessity." He said, his voice softening, he rested a hand on my shoulder. I felt his presence overtake me, it was his way of silently telling me I had no choice.

I shook it off. "I don't care about some stupid prophecy! Percy is my friend!" I said, glaring daggers into his eyes. "You just said you would spare him! You only just avoided a war. If you do this, do you think Poseidon is just going to let it slide?" I reasoned.

He averted his eyes, "I shall deal with my brother. While I admit I regret this course of action, it is our only recourse. He knows it is for the best. Poseidon has other sons. He shall forgive me, in time." He waved it off, but I couldn't do the same. "Could you? Have you forgiven Hades for-"

He raised a hand, a final warning. Thunder shook the ground around us, but I didn't take it, I was going to stop this, even if he killed me, I'd protect Percy. "You've been through that pain, I know you have, so what about Sally Jackson?"

I tried to appeal to the father in him, "After everything Olympus has put her though, you're going to take her son from her too? For what? Because of some prophecy made years ago!" But the god of thunder was set in his ways. "I must."

With these words I knew there was no changing his mind, his tone was absolute. I began reaching my hand down to the pommel of my sword. "Draw that weapon and I assure you that your last breath will be drawn with it. Do not test me again boy."
