The three were at a diner. Sicheng was the one paying, as a token of thank you.

Renjun: You don't have to thank us...

He said in a low voice.

Sicheng who was sitting next to Shayla, could sense the younger warming up to him, causing him to chuckle. He glanced at the female next to him who was busy studying her notes.

Sicheng: I offered to buy you food so that you can take a break. Cut it out will you?

He said nudging her. She sat up and closed the book shut. She let out a soft groan.

Shayla: This is so confusing.

She sighed but took a bite of her burger. The dinner was relatively silent with only two other tables occupied.

Renjun: That was good.

He said breaking the silence.

Shayla: You're right... its been so long i had a proper meal.

Sicheng: You should eat better.

Shayla: Yeah but i need to solve the case too.

Sicheng: And neglect your health?

The two made eye contact and Renjun felt so out of place at the moment. It was as if they were arguing but he wasn't sure anymore.

Renjun: Ahem... we should head back soon.

---

Back at the station Shayla was called away to Mino's office. So Sicheng was left alone in the cabin with Renjun who wrote down extra notes on the board.

Sicheng: Who was that?

Renjun: Who?

Sicheng: The man who called Shayla to his office?

Renjun: Our supervisor. He has been pressuring us to close this case.

Before Sicheng could say anything the door opened and Shayla entered with a defeated look.

Shayla: We might need to end this.

Sicheng: What do you mean?

Shayla: I am being forced to close this case.

Sicheng: And you are just going to do it? We have proof that Taeyong said the truth.

He said, slightly getting heated up. Shayla faced him, clearly not having it. The tiredness was getting to her to the point that she snapped.

Shayla: I am tired of you telling me what to do. I am tired of everyone telling me what to do. Besides... even if Taeyong didn't do it, he is still part of a gang. He deserves to be in jail anyway.

Renjun: Jie...

But Sicheng was already beyond angry hearing her words.

Sicheng: You can't be serious right now. You can't expect me to betray my people. They're not all criminals, and innocent lives will be ruined.

Shayla: Exactly, Your people. You guys deal drugs, illegal drugs. That's a pretty hefty crime. We can't turn a blind eye to those crimes. I have a duty to fill and a system-

Sicheng: This system that you keep talking about, failed us, the entire gang, and you are just going to punish them further. You are blaming Taeyong for something he didn't do! Duty?! Like hell you are doing that. Your superiors just care about numbers. You're sacrificing what's right for your career.

Shayla: If you guys did nothing wrong... justice will come along on its own.

Sicheng scoffed, unable to believe that the female said such things.

Sicheng: Justice? I can't stand you. I won't stand by and watch. I'll find the truth and protect my people, even if it means going against you.

Shayla: Go ahead and try.

Sicheng: You know what Shayla? You are just a fucking coward.

Sicheng: You know what Shayla? You are just a fucking coward
