"Sure thing." Tristan smiled brightly even though he actually wanted to smack Warren for being so incredibly dense. Not just because he couldn't see Tristan's intention, but mainly because he was still going on about that nonsensical pornstar that Tristan was starting to hate passionately.
"So, what are you doing on the weekend?" Clearly, he needed to be more aggressive in his pursuit.

Warren took another mouthful of food in order to stall with his answer to that very personal question. He was going to spend the entire weekend watching porn and trolling the net.

"I haven't got any plans yet..." Why was Tanner asking about his weekend? Maybe he couldn't think of anything else to talk about.

"Well, I haven't had time to see anything in L.A. yet, so I wanted to get to know the city a little better and I need a tour guide." Tanner gave him a suggestive grin.

Warren stared at him. Was his boss seriously asking him to spend time together privately on the weekend? Wow, that guy really didn't have any friends at all. Why didn't he ask Schäfer or something? Maybe he was afraid Schäfer would say no. Warren couldn't really say no: Tanner was his boss, after all. Did he even want to spend time with his boss?
His really hot, charming, awesome boss?

They could go see all those amazing places Warren had always wanted to go to but never had. And then they could have a romantic candlelight dinner and-!
Ok no. Warren mentally slapped himself, trying to push his ridiculous daydreams aside. What was the matter with him?! His boss wasn't asking him out, he just didn't have any friends!
Why couldn't someone as awesome as Tanner ever ask him out on a date...?
Not that he wanted that, of course. No, he was in love with Jack, and that was the only guy he ever wanted to be with. Yes. Not his boss, who just happened to be nice and smart and-

"So... would you show me around?" Tanner interrupted Warren's mental rambling.

"Oh, um, of course. What are you interested in seeing?" Warren didn't know any places to go to.

"Something that's not overrun with tourists. Some insider places that only locals know."

Great. "I know tons of places." What was he doing? Was he seriously trying to impress his boss? And not with work things, the way it should be?
Maybe he wasn't over his silly crush as much as he wished he was... Of course he wasn't, but that wasn't his fault! Tanner kept being so nice to him, and now actually wanted to get to know him personally, which was seriously wrong. They shouldn't be making friends. They shouldn't be having lunch. And they should definitely not spend the weekend doing random stuff together.
"There's a lot of really cool things to do in L.A., though it does kinda depend on what sorts of things you're into?" Was he trying to get himself fired?
On the other hand, there probably were a lot of cool places in L.A., right?
Obviously there were – he just had to find them. And then pretend like he had been there ten times. Great...

"I like nature things. Plants, gardens, parks, stuff like that." Tanner shrugged.

"Really?" Warren asked surprised. Tanner didn't seem like the type for outdoors. He was always so formally dressed and... generally not outdoorsy.

"Yes. I usually spend so much time here at the office, or otherwise indoors, so if I get the chance, I like to go outside. I miss that about Germany... On the weekends, I always used to drive out of the city to go hiking or something." Tanner smiled fondly, while Warren tried to picture his boss hiking somewhere in the German mountains. It was a very odd image indeed.
Warren hated outdoorsy things; he had already hated it back when his mother sometimes forced him to go on walks with her when he'd been little.
There was nothing worse than wandering around aimlessly through the wilderness.
