My pace had considerably slowed. Today was a horrible day. The rain just refused to stop. Sometimes it was sprinkling, then hailing, harsh rain, just all the kinds and it was miserable. I was soaked and exhausted. In the back of my mind the only thing keeping me going was finding Amora and Eri. Even just finding a body would be enough for me.
A blurry figure caught my eye as I walked. Blinking a few times I suddenly realized the figure was now huddled near me.
"Dammit Jinx." Hissed a familiar tone.
Blinking through the rain on my lashes I noticed Dabi standing in front of me. He looked like a drenched dog. His clothes were soaked. His hair was sticking to his face and neck as water streamed through it.
"You're freezing." He snapped.
My vision blurred in and out a little as I smiled, "Hey Toya."
Suddenly I was encased in his warmth as he huddled near me. The heat snapped my body awake. My teeth started chattering and my entire body started to shiver. I could practically feel the cold on my bones. Instinctively I hugged up close to him trying to shrink away from the sudden chilliness. I was quick to miss the bliss of being numb in this weather.
"Shit. I told you to stay home!"
"D- d- d- did you f- f- find them?" I questioned through chattering teeth. Suddenly I was engulfed in Dabis soaked jacket. Surprisingly it was still pretty warm. I hadn't realized how nifty a flame quirk could be in this kind of weather.
He sighed pulling me into a close embrace to raise my body heat. "Yes, we found them. They're both unharmed and safe at your place. Where you were supposed to be." He stated harshly.
"I'm sorry." I mumbled.
Silence.
"Oh... and t- t- thank you f- for the flowers."
"Flowers?" he questioned.
I nodded.
He paused for a moment before muttering something under his breath. "Let's get you home." he said, releasing me from the warm embrace.
I let Dabi lead the way as we walked. At some point I realized Dabi no longer had a jacket since he gave me his. I was worried he'd be cold but when I turned to look at him I noted that he looked completely unfazed by the harsh cold rain. Occasionally if you focused close enough you could see the water evaporate as soon as it touched his scars.
Silently I kept my gaze ahead. Amora and Eri were safe. But for how long? I plan on training with Shigaraki, help out with the League. We're going to run into many more people like Overhaul. With such an interesting quirk like Eris she isn't safe with the kind of work I've put myself in.
I could leave Eri with Amora. But Amoras is already in danger with my kind of work. If Eri is being hunted down on top of me, Amora is nowhere near safe. Not to mention she won't stand a chance in a fight. Not once has she been interested in fighting and her quirk is nowhere near helpful for combat.
Eri loves that hero doll I've given her... She'd be safer with heroes. Those students and heroes were fighting hard to get her away from Overhaul... They'd keep her safe. I could ask Vendetta to make sure they'd be nice to her.
I've already failed to keep her safe from Overhaul once. I probably scared her today having Dabi go find them and me not being home when I should've been... With training I won't even be around much for her anyway...
"Do you have Vendetta's number?" I questioned Dabi as we walked.
He glanced down at me, "I do. Why?"
"I h- h- have more q- qu- questions for her." I lied. Desperately I wanted my teeth to stop chattering. Annoyed, I clenched my jaw.
