Big's heart was beating fast, as he neared the apartment. It was finally time to do what Tankhun had asked of him, even if everything screamed at him not to. Kim was at the university, so the apartment was empty, but the fear of Kim suddenly showing up, had Big's hand shaking as he typed in the code for the door.
He kept looking around for the right place to hide the microphones, but every time he found a spot, he shook his head, telling himself it wasn't the right one.
He was stalling.
He came to a stop in front of the couch, and his breath hitched.
He couldn't do it. He couldn't bug Kim's apartment. He never wanted to do it ever since he was told to, so why did he show up here while Kim was gone?
Did he want Kim to catch him red-handed? Did he want to prove to Kim that yes, his brothers didn't care about his privacy?
At the sound of the door opening, Big's heart stopped beating, and he slowly turned around.
"What are you doing here?" Kim asked, slowly walking into the apartment. His voice might have been calm and soft, but his eyes were cold.
Big took a deep breath and put on a calm face.
"Sir, I've been ordered to bug your apartment" he blurted out, finally getting rid of the secret which had been weighing on him.
He held out his hand, the microphones resting in his palm.
There was no sign of shock or anger on Kim's face, just disappointment, as though he was tired, so, so tired, yet it was hidden behind his cold face.
He didn't say anything for a while, only walked past Big and sat down on the couch.
"Sir," he calmly let out, hoping for Kim to say something, anything to end this tortuous silence.
"I know you told me to be honest," he began to kneel down on the floor, "and I'm sorry I didn't tell you" Kim didn't reply, and only looked out on the balcony.
"Tankhun?" his low voice sounded, still not looking at Big, who was on his knees, head hanging low in shame.
"Yes, sir," he nodded.
It was silent again for a while, and Big's heart sped up, beating louder and louder in his ears.
A sigh escaped Kim
"You need to sort out your loyalty" he started out. "I know you want to be loyal to the main family, but you're assigned to me. You're supposed to be working for me, are you not?"
"Yes sir" Big replied, looking down on the floor.
"How can you prove your worth to them, when you can't even do what you're asked?"
"Please do whatever is necessary," Big replied, expecting a punishment from Kim. "Whatever you need to do. If Tankhun finds out-"
"Isn't that your own fault?" Kim interrupted, cold eyes staring Big down, then he turned away from him again.
"I won't hurt you" and Big looked up, surprise evident in his eyes.
"Tell him, I found out, and I threatened to hurt you if anything like this happened again"
Big let out a relieved breath, but his heart still beat out of his chest.
"Yes sir"
"Anything else you haven't told me?"
"Tankhun compared you to Vegas"
Kim scoffed "Really?"
"Yes, sir"
