"We still have that bet" I say out of nowhere."What bet?" Jungwon asked confused, his brows scrunching up.
Well, it might've been out of nowhere for him, but I basically planned to say that for the last five minutes.
I told myself that I would try to be around him more, and hopefully drop hints. Even if it absolutely terrified me to do so.
In my mind I had been repeating those words over and over again telling myself that I would say it. I just needed to blurt it out without thinking twice otherwise I would've never mentioned it.
"The one we made when you said you could beat me in a tennis match."
His face lit up in remembrance, "Oh yeah!"
"Wanna go play today?" He asked with a new found excitement.
"Sure!" I replied.
That was easier than I thought. Technically he was the one who invited me, I only brought it up.
___________
Me:
I'm bringing you one of my old rackets because I'm pretty sure you don't have one 😭Jungwon🐑:
Yeah I don't, thank you tho!!!Me:
Wear comfortable shoes because trust me your feet will hurt later onJungwon🐑:
I was going to wear converse but I don't think that's a good idea anymore 😧Me:
Yeah definitely notWe agreed to go to the park separately since it would be more time consuming to go to one house and then walk together.
I pulled the gate door of the court towards me, struggling just a bit after figuring out it wasn't a push. I walked to one of the benches they had on the side and placed down a bag that I brought that carried necessities. Water, two rackets, and most importantly the tennis balls.
I almost forgot to grab them, imagine showing up to the park without one of the most needed things in the game.
I sat down waiting for him to walk through the door, retying my shoe laces to make sure they don't come undone later on.
Only a while earlier he texted me saying he was on his way, and he finally arrived.
I stood up to meet him in the middle.
"Okay which one do you want?" I asked holding up the two rackets by their handle.
"Hm, I'll go with this one" he grabbed the one that had green grip tape, leaving me with the already dirtied one that was once white. But after not using it for a couple years it collected dust.
"Ready?" He said already getting ready to play, standing on the opposite side of the court.
"Do you even know the rules?" I questioned.
"Oh yeah, I guess not" he laughed, walking back defeated in my direction so I could explain.
After many questions and confusion he finally understood the rules and concept of the game. It was simple really, just try your best to have the opponent miss the shot.
"Do you want to warm up first or just go straight to playing?"
"Let's go straight to playing, unless you want to warm up because you're scared I'll beat you so you want extra practice." He said a little too confident for my liking.
