Was it a mistake to snap at Peter?

Yes. Definitely yes.

Was it a mistake to go on a date with someone you feel no romantic attraction to whatsoever?

Most likely, yes.

Did it make things awkward between Madison and Peter?

You'd think so.

The first few hours were a little awkward the next day, but it was surprisingly easy to just get back into the swing of their usual weird conversations. Maddy was so sure it would be weird, and sure, the kiss and what she said come to her mind often, but most of the time she just ignores it. By this point, she's accepted that she's being an idiot and needs to move on, even if it's not with Flash.

Speaking of Flash, she needs to message him. She can't just leave him ignored after what happened, even if it's to admit what she's truly feeling to him, which might not go down well.

She just rubs at her eyes, exhausted with all the deep, existential thoughts entering her mind the moment she wakes up. Instead she turns her attention to Peter beside her on his bed, sighing. They were doing a Star Trek marathon the day before, moving to his room considering she's not yet replaced the DVD box in the sitting room to go with the new TV.

She just pulls herself out of the bed, ready to – after the last few disastrous weeks – finally have an uneventful weekend.

After brushing her teeth, she rubs at her eyes exhaustedly and starts heading downstairs to the kitchen, planning to make pancakes and coffee for them to have before training with her powers.

It's only when she steps in that she senses something cold in the room, knowing that the temperature is always cranked up because of her sensitivity. She glances up, only to recognise another figure in the room, one that shouldn't even be there.

The moment she moves to run back upstairs, the figure chuckles lowly, holding a hand out. "I wouldn't do that if I were you."

There's no escape – Madison knows that. Ignoring all the questions bouncing around in her head, she holds her hands out in a defensive position, ready to fight even though it won't do anything.

Peter had told her countless stories before about things he'd faced off in the last ten years. All the truly interesting things had come at the beginning of Spider-Man's era, with him afterwards turning more to muggings and robberies and people in crazy suits bent on world domination, which makes it even easier to keep track of the truly bad guys.

But even after nine years of him being dead, Madison wasn't expecting to see Electro standing in her kitchen.

Or not Electro. Just Max Dillon, a face she barely remembers from work but knew from the news. She blinks, but he's still there. Not a figament of her imagination, but somehow real, somehow standing in her house. But he looks familiar. The sidecomb is gone, instead leaving his hair cropped on his head, glasses disappeared, skin looking better than it ever did. Not bad for a dead guy, but it only raises more and more questions.
