Lily and Giuseppe Salvatore never really thought that they would have three kids, three sons. Scratch that. Lily Salvatore never thought that she would have kids with a man as awful as him. She knew what he was from the minute she met him. The problem was that she couldn't do anything about it. She had to sit tight and being treated like she was nothing. She would give the world to finally be able to leave him but she couldn't. Living in the 1800s' wasn't easy for any woman. They had to be quiet while the men treated them like they were animals, when the only animals were these men.

That was why Lily left them leaving behind three young boys to take care of themselves, while having to protect eachother from the rage of their father. Gabriel's mission was to protect his brothers and never let anyone hurt them. If he had known that this promise to them would lead him to his death.
Since Katherine Pierce came to their home he never liked her. He was the only one that could see past her innocent facade. He knew that something was wrong with her and he was right. But it was too late when they found out what Katherine really was.

That's why he won't like the Mystic Falls gang except for Jeremy as he doesn't use Bonnie lile the others and he will also sometimes bot get along with his brothers because of that.
