Caaln didn't mention anything from the previous night and I was incredibly thankful for that. He had let me unleash some of my anger and irritation, and maybe even some of my sadness onto the 'punching bags, and as soon as I was out of breath, he had shoved me inside to drink something, before we continued with wooden swords.
That morning, I had explicitly asked him for it and the tall Lyrarn had just nodded upon my request. He showed me some basic stances, but I tired quickly. It was just a wooden sword, and I knew that a real one would only be much heavier for me to wield. When I voiced my concern, he had grinned "You don't really believe, that you will get a normal sword, do you? A special one will be forged once we are ready with our training."
"A special one?", I asked curiously.
"Yes, the weaponsmith is already informed. He will visit in a few weeks to take some measurements."
After our training session, I asked Caaln where Nurala and Adrijele lived. He frowned "Why do you want to know?"
Shrugging slightly, I replied "I thought... Do you know how they are?"
"Nurala just lost her husband, Adri. She's... grieving. It will take a while until she will get over it. But they are fine and cared for."
I sighed "N-...", I caught myself "I was being told, that because Srin attacked his Lord with a dagger, he won't be found guilty of treason. But... isn't that treason, too?"
Caaln tilted his head. "He attacked with a dagger, not with something lethal. But it gave Nysh an excuse to kill him right at the spot, that's the law. And... you probably don't know, that those who know about you... they have been told by Nysh months ago, that everyone who betrays him when it concerns you... will face a fate far worse than death. And their families. Only because Brayhd was able to read Srin's thoughts, who begged him to save his family, and only because of Nysh's mercy... Srin was allowed a quick death. And Nysh spared his family, he took care that they are still allowed to live here, heck, he even saved them personally from the Circle."
"Which he didn't have to do...", I murmured to myself.
"No, but he did it anyways.""They... named her after me. When Srin gave me the money so many months ago, he asked for my name, and I told him. But he risked the safety of his family... how could he..."
Caaln placed his hand on my shoulder and squeezed it lightly "As far as we know, Nurala visited her family in another city, together with their daughter. They kidnapped her on their way, and Srin...", Caaln shrugged his shoulders helplessly "Maybe he fought, that Nyshard wouldn't help him safe them. I don't know Adri. But Nyshard would never let a child die, let alone one that was named after you."
I scoffed "I doubt it has anything to do with my name."
The tall Lyrarn, narrowed his eyes, then he said, his voice low "What happened last night Adri? I knew that something was wrong."
I shook my head "Nothing important."
"You don't look like it."
I looked up at him and forced a smile "I need to concentrate on my training. And on getting better. And stronger."
Caaln frowned, but let go of the topic.
Once I got back to my room, my eyes got drawn to a small note that was placed upon my bed.
Frowning, I walked towards it and unfolded it.
