The maid had left a sleeping potion for me and while I was at first sceptical about taking one, in the end, I was glad about a dreamless sleep. I couldn't have taken another night with tossing and turning in my bed or with waking up, crying. And also, definitely not with Nyshard close by.
He needed his sleep, too.
And it wasn't as if he could always come and wake when I had another nightmare. He couldn't. That wasn't his task, in fact, it was no ones.
The sleeping potion had worked, but I had put the medallion away for the night, nevertheless.
But that dreamless sleep was a heavenly gift.
I didn't sleep long, but at least it felt as if it had been deep. But when the first sun rays broke through my window the next day, I awoke with a start, and got out of bed immediately to inspect the cuts on my palm and my wrist. They weren't got, but at least they looked much better than the day before. He cold I had felt the night before had gotten better, but I still took no risks and chose a rather warm blouse before I slipped out of my room to go for a little walk through the castle. An inner voice urged me to move, as if it could just keep me from thinking.
But it didn't.
I didn't count the number of stairs I climbed nor the number of doors I passed by on my walk, but I just wasn't able to stop.
My father, Nyshard, my father, Nyshard. My Whisper. The petals of the white roses, my healing power, which was also white. My Fleyr power, which was red. Roses... were also normally red, white roses were a bit rarer... Or at least, I guessed so. And most intriguing, the Whispers. All of them. Headshaking, I decided that I would need to find a piece of paper and a pen to write everything down that was in my head. I needed to organise those things...
Especially, when I found myself also wonder about those things the Whisperers had said to Nyshard before we had been able to leave them. I needed to write them down, too, and I needed to do it before I forgot them.
Just when I was about to ask a maid for the way to the library or for what I needed to write, I heard voices coming from a room across the hall.
They were muted, probably by a shield - no, as I got closer, I saw, that there indeed was a shield but I felt Nyshard's aura coming from that direction, too.
Frowning, I walked towards it, and just when I was about to knock at the door, it was being opened from inside and Myrahd smiled down at me, stepped to the side and gestured at me to get into the room. Inside, sitting at a huge table with trays of food on it, sat Rhlahd, Syrion and Nyshard.
And it was the latter one who stood up upon my entering, and pulled the chair next to him a bit backwards, so that I was able to take a seat there. With a thankful nod, I did just that and greeted everyone with a silent "Good Morning."
Nyshard offered me a small smile, but it was Rhlahd who spoke "Myn pyk adrina yele, it's a pleasure to see you awake and well. We've been worried yesterday, but Nyshard has already informed us – roughly – about what had transpired. I am glad the Whisperers gave you the answer to your question, and as we –", he glanced at Nyshard, before his eyes settled upon me again "...as we just discussed, Raylahd is forming a new treaty with High Ilryn and..."
I glanced at Nyshard for a short moment, saw, how he slightly tilted his head. "... with Wyntern Falls", Rhlahd's bright brown eyes settled upon Syrion.
"A treaty?", I repeated.
"Yes. Lord Rhlahd and Syrion, as representative for his father, agreed to sign an alliance with High Ilryn", Nyshard stated calmly "An alliance, which serves the purpose to protect the Lady of the Isle of Gnys."
